NCAA to let schools offer NIL before enrollment
The NCAA is dropping its rule that prohibited athletes from negotiating the terms of NIL payments until after they enrolled in school.
Then I shouldn't have to pay taxes to build gyms for them. Let them use their own money. Why support college sports with our fees. Let the athletes do it. They havd more money then the average student. And why shouldn't it be? If someone wants to give someone else money, who are we to say no?
There is NOTHING privileged about a player getting NIL. Ask their parents who paid 10s of thousands of dollars to get their kid the opportunity to get some NIL. Those athletes and their families gave up time, energy, money and vacations. That's hard work not privilege.Minor league ball players are paid about 25,000 dollars a year. no scholarship . And when they end their career, that's it.
NIL players are priviliged. Why do I have to pay for their gym use. They should build the gyms theirselves.
The San Jose Mercury News stated that the super conferences are dominating with no real upsets in the sweet sixteen. Soon, no one will cre about college basketball because having everybody pick their pool the first week is what kept interest going. With no upsets then why have a pool. And if no pool, why watch college basketball.
Like I said, why does mymoney have to go to athletes who don't care about the fan. Let thempay for their won gym as a scholarship means nothing to them.
How about all those hard working students who got an academic scholarship. I think we who donate think a scholaeship to a good school with room and board is enough. There is NOTHING privileged about a player getting NIL. I don't think you understand what NIL is.How about all those hard working students who got an academic scholarship. I think we who donate think a scholaeship to a good school with room and board is enough.
I don't think you understand. I donate to the Cal women's basketball team and it is to the University. Most women's basketball programs lose money. Someone has to build them a gym and pay for their plane rides and housing on the road. I pay for that. And if they injure themselves, I pay for their medical rehab and if they don't waste it they will have a degree. Players today can work. You are taking about the past. And i played college sports in the pat. How much did you donate to the college of your choice this year?I don't think you understand what NIL is.
Your donations do pay for those academic students. It's also nasty work to think think athletes don't work as hard. The problem was those gifted academic students were able to work and make money. Those on athletic scholarship could not. Those academic scholarships could take money from anyone, take a meal from anyone, or make a you tube channel wearing their school gear and make money. Athletes could not. I assume you were not on an athletic scholarship when you were at Cal. If you were, you would understand.
How about this. Instead of donating to the women's team, donate to the science club.I don't think you understand. I donate to the Cal women's basketball team and it is to the University. I did donate to the science club. Who did you donate to.How about this. Instead of donating to the women's team, donate to the science club.
Then you won't have to come here to complain.
The topic here was NIL which you don't donate to. If you played college sports you should understand you should have been compensated. A full time student and athlete doesn't have time to pull.a shift at Starbucks. So the NIL opportunities make up for that.
OK, so wo do we make the check out o. And where do we send it?Since you both seem to know about this…
How would someone donate to the SRV Girls
Basketball program?
By the way, those students in sciences end up 100,000 dollars in debt because of loans. Even if they work part time. The the athlete gets a degree with no debt.OK, so wo do we make the check out o. And where do we send it?
if they got academic scholarships they arent in debt.By the way, those students in sciences end up 100,000 dollars in debt because of loans. Even if they work part time. The the athlete gets a degree with no debt.
What?OK, so wo do we make the check out o. And where do we send it?
Academic scholarships are not always for the full amount. Judging from your writing, you weren't on an acdemic scholarship.if they got academic scholarships they arent in debt.
since you hate them athletes so much why are you donating?
how bout you take all that money you donating, shine them donations up, turn them sons a bbbss sideways...
If you are on nor cal preps in search of elite writing skills.. you gonna suffer a long slow death. EnjoyAcademic scholarships are not always for the full amount. Judging from your writing, you weren't on an acdemic scholarship.
What school do you give to Clay? I already donate to three schools. Two are nonathletic. One is athletic. That can happen at a private school, but at a public, much harder.
And why SRV? (You haven't answered my questions about John Cristiano as opposed to Sue Phillips.)
Why not a school that really needs the help, like Mt. Diablo or Kennedy of Richmond? The money would likely do much more there.
No.WB back to my questions
Do you get to name a scholarship, set criteria and choose the recipient?
Then why do colleges ask us for donations for NIL?In the men's sweet 16 games I've seen 3 different commercials with Ju Ju, Paige, Cooper Flagg, Elliot caduea... that's what NIL is
The people who get into the college of their choice, have to work hard academically. That doesn't mean they get a scholarship. It means they qualify to get in that program. Do you think all the business majors who get into Haas School of Business are on scholarship . NOT!Because college athletics are professional sports, and they need money. You know this.
Cal, which you follow, must win lots of football games to survive the next round of realignment and the players must be paid, both over and under the table. If you don't pay the players, you don't win.
In the past, the payments were covert, and even so, the players were not compensated fairly for the income they generated. Once the courts ruled against the blatant greed and stupidity of the NCAA, all of this was inevitable.
It's a brave new world, and not necessarily a better one.
I am bitter. But I still donate to colleges. You haven't said who you donate to.You sound bitter. Just keep your money
Donate to DI am bitter. But I still donate to colleges. You haven't said who you donate to.
