Battle tested teams that have separated themselves with clutch free throws, buzzer beating 3 pointers, rim rattling dunks, full court pressing, traps and timely play are bearing Open possibilities.
If we analyze each section and then look at the Best overall Northern California 8 teams that might be selected from the C.I.F., we can start projecting what teams are likely to be selected. Each section can place 4 teams, granted some listed will win league and perhaps the loser will be placed in Divisional playoffs. I see this year as one of the few years where 8 teams should be selected to the 8-team bracket. if the C.I.F. chooses to add Central to So-Cal then it might be only 7 team Open bracket. When comes to the Open who do you think will be the top 8 teams selected from the listed sections, if I missed a school you think is worthy then add them to your list.

Not in any order. Jesuit plays Folsom tnite at Sheldon. If Jesuit wins or it’s a close game without Andrej that will tell us more.

Montgomery??? NorCal Open??? Whaaaaatt???? 😳

The nice thing is that the NCS has an Open so the teams will win/earn their way in rather than just leaving it to a committee.
CN might get a NCS Open bid if they can run the table the rest of the way in the NBL (maybe even with 1 loss) but their SOS is low. Even if CN did get an NCS Open bid it would be in the 4 or 5 range most likely.
Montgomery? RANKED #121 in maxpreps state rankings with a 28 point loss to Branson, a 20 pt loss to CN and a loss to Urban. NOPE...not even close..lol. Just curious how u came up with Monty for potential State Open?

Love it! Clearly another frequent visitor of www.upsetcity.com !

Guru - Are Montgomery and Piner playing today? Windsor and Newman?
Yes!!! Good games in Santa Rosa tonight! Piner@Monty and Windsor@CN. Both 7:30pm!

I just dont see anybody going undefeated in the NBL this year. CN dodged a bullet at Piner last game, we will see how they do against a talented Windsor squad tonight. I think Piner is in a good spot tonight with Monty coming off the HUGE win over Windsor last game. I would be predicting a Piner upset if the game was at Piner but Monty is at home so I think M will get it done and get the win.

Either way some fun games on hand in the county tonight!

@northbaybbguru who you got in the game on old redwood hwy??? I am equally impressed with their offenses. I give the Nod to CN where I know their home crowd is worth 5-6 points. They are loud! @larry legend33 who you got????

I sort of think Windsor gets the W tonite 51-48 in a nail biter. I don’t see newman going undefeated either.
There Are no Open quality teams in the North bay with exception of newman girls. Not to say we don’t have some better hoops this year but not that level.

I don’t think you can have Folsom, Jesuit, and Inderkum this year in the open. It’s 2 of those and Folsom beat up Inderkum bad already. Lots of hoops left but could see them doing well in d1.

I agree... potentially CN could sneak into the bottom half of the NCS Open but that's the ceiling for any NBL teams as far as any Open talk.

Is Andrej still out? What happened?

8 teams(including central section) should break down something like:

SJS D1 champ and runner up if 2 of these 4:
-Folsom, MC, Inderkum, Jesuit

CCS Mitty and Riordan.
- Even if either are upset in the playoffs, these 2 seem to be the class of that section.

NCS Open champ and runner up + At large.
-NCS is deep enough to warrant a 3rd team, otherwise, the spot should go to Central D1 runner up.

Central D1 champ if one of these 3:
- St. Joseph, Clovis North, Clovis West.
