Four of the eight teams are making their Division I debut (Del Oro, College Park, Serra, Los Gatos). De La Salle (2022, 2023) and St. Mary's (2024) have won the previous three titles. De La Salle is the favorite as its offense has scored double digit runs in all four NCS playoff games. Franklin, Serra and St. Mary's also pack some power as they host first round games.

Four section title winners are in this field including both teams in the 1-8 matchup with Yuba City and Hollister. Also, Casa Grande comes in at No. 4 after beating Granada and Foothill in the quarterfinals and 3rd place game respectively in the NCS Division I playoffs. Private schools have won all three Division II titles with two of them coming from the WCAL (Mitty 2022, St. Ignatius 2023, Cardinal Newman 2024).

California comes in as the No. 8 seed but also might be the most tested coming out of the EBAL. Roseville is here after winning the SJS Division IV title over previous Top 20 ranked Bradshaw Christian. Carmel had a walkoff win to capture the CCS Division III title while Rancho Cotate made the NCS Division II finals as the No. 15 seed. The previous two Division III finals were between Oakmont and Central Catholic with those teams eaching winning once.

Woodland Christian is on a 9 game winning streak and has given up nine total runs during that time. They won Division V a year ago. Menlo has won 18 of 19 games since a 3-7 start. West Valley lost its playoff opener, but bounced back with three straight wins for the Northern Section Division III title. A Northern Section team has made the finals two of three years but haven't won a title.

Can't argue with much here. I think California could go on a run in D3. D1 could go a lot of different ways to get there, but I would be pretty surprised if De La Salle didn't win it all.

The issue with DLS now is that their pitching has caught up to their hitting and their hitting is off the charts right now!…. DLS lost 4 games, 2 to Granada, St Mary’s and Whitney….

I think the teams that can beat DLS are St. Mary’s, Franklin, VC and Serra because of their pitching and defense, If you give DLS extra outs you are finished with that lineup….

If I were playing DLS I would show up in Granada’s uniforms to hopefully freak the Spartans out!…. 🤣

That is the 1 team that has The Spartans number the last 2 years!….
