Hey Streak I am getting into baseball a tad more these days as I got friends with kids playing as well as a few that coach. So what is the reason why they just don’t take it one more week and play north versus south and hold a state championship.

Season runs to long and runs into graduation and summer ball already.

You already have several top teams opt out of the regionals. Season would have to start a week or two earlier (weather would definitely be a factor for that).

Ok that makes sense. Just kind of crazy as if I recall correctly many other states have state title games. Could be wrong but I believe I have seen a few

Also, other states start their seasons in early February and they don’t have game limits like CA does…..

CA has like a 25 game limit prior to playoffs, This includes any tournaments the teams play in which they all do around spring break time, or if they don’t they take that week off…..

Other states end up playing around 35 or so games including their playoffs where CA teams end about 30 if they win CIF….

Like @bella123 said we would have to make adjustments in CA for a real playoff…. Start the season earlier and get rid of the game limits would really be what needs to be done….

As others mentioned, the calendar isn't there for it now, but I think it will happen maybe by 2027.

Issue with starting earlier is weather concerns and then cutting into the winter sports and further hurting the two-sport athlete.

Some changes are available, but going to have to change the section playoffs to make it happen IMO.
