I was definitely wrong about Menlo getting blown out by CVC, grats to them.

Central Catholic 55-51 over Monterey
HMB 55-50 over Rio Americano

Wow... Alameda score really surprised me. Good for them.
Mitty spanked Jesuit...What is in the water...

That was Mitty’s 12th win of the season. Elias played, not sure if he was playing injured

They are peaking now however. They also blasted menlo by 30 who just beat a good CVC.

Now Menlo School has to travel all the way to Fresno to play a very good and athletic Central that came into St Francis and pulled off the upset.

Am I the only one who sees that CVC plays ZERO defense? That's not a recipe for playoff success.

With this new Nor Cal fore-mat I’m not sure if there is a such thing as an upset since no teams are better then the others. It looks like a 16 team tournament of equal competition.

And no CVC and a couple of other Offensive powers play zero defense the reason why none of these type teams have any sections or Nor-Cal titles.

That d1 bracket is loaded with good teams serra just doesn't have the horses this
year to bother Dublin but that potential 2nd round game with Las Lomas
will be a absolute track meet with plenty of athletes on the floor.

Next up....

LL and Dublin is gonna be a great second round match up, Paly vs. Heritage should also be a good one.

CVC was ranked 7th in the state, and they lost in the first round.. yikes

CVC lost to a team fresh off 22 point (Mitty) and 32 point (St Ignatius) beatdowns in the CCS Open - not a good look. I suspected they've been over-rated all year. Palo Alto is a senior led quality team that is extremely well coached and will give Heritage all they want in the second round.

CVC gave up 100 to Campo. Their offense is so frantic, if they’re not knocking down those 3s, they’re in trouble.

Results of the Opening Round New Format;
Was it really an upset?
Was the seeding wacky?

GONE:
D1
# 4, 5, 6 seed

D2
#4, 6, 7, 8 seed

D3
#6 seed

D4
#5, 6, 8 seed

D5
#5, 7, 8 seed

I like Palo Alto as well. Watch tape of that Salesian game earlier in the year and it was close all the way until the end. Should be a good one.
What a wild night in norcal hoops. Seedings don't mean much in this new format.

Palo Alto is a problem for every team not in CCS. This is the program that made it to a State Finals with Jeremy Lin correct? Anyway well Coached, they execute their game plan and you better play a good team defense against them.
