This should be zero surprise to anyone who reads this forum...

I am at Campolindo, awaiting the Coagars’ matchup with WCAL representative Serra of San Mateo.

Serra is 18-8, ranked in the 40’s on MaxPreps.

The 22-6 Cougs are ranked in the 30’s.

Haven’t seen Serra in-person this season, so I don’t have a lot to say... But I am very glad we are playing here and NOT in the Jungle. :)

I wouldn't be surprised if Serra gives Campo a better run than last year. Still expect Campo to win but Serra might make them work for it unlike last year.
 
Yup, Serra had a bad games here last year... Quite a few sloppy, unforced goofups. I’m sure Serra fans hope they got that kind of play out of their systems this year when they wilted in front of Mitty a few games back.
 
Or was that Bellarmine? The 65-14 game, anyway... Serra doesn’t wanna revisit *that* again...

Aidan calls his own number, nails a 3!

Serra scores inside... 3-2 Cougs... Serra gets a board... but cougs get a stop...

Carters scores! 5-2.
 
Serra’s #3 nails a 3... 5-all

Radell fouled on a hook shot... FT’s both go. 7-5.

Serra #1 nails a 3... 8-7 Serra. Callas for 2...

Serra #3 drives fo 2. 10-9 Serra.

Callas drives and scores! 11-10. 3:25 left.
 
Drive by Serra #2 for a score... 12-11.

NICE spin move again by Serra #2 to score, but Callas right back at ‘em...

Cade Bennett takes a charge! 14-13 Serra...

Serra gets mismatch, a foul by Weaver on a big... FT’s go. 16-13.

Aidan for 3!! 16 all.

Serra offensive board, wild putback try at the buzzer misses, but he’s fouled... FT’s both miss... 16-16 to end the first q.
 
Serra opens the 2nd with a putback score...

Serra big #30 fouled next time down... airballs the 2nd FT, after missing the first...

#30 scores inside for Serra.. 20-16 Serra.

Aidan fouled, 2 shots... Both go. 20-18.

Carter with a nice move and floater... 20-alll.

Carter steals... pass to Robeson... 3-ball GOES! 23-20 Cougars. Time out, 5:12 in the half.
 
Serra #3 floats one in... and Aidan floats one, too... 25-22.

Robeson fouled after a rebound, bonus time... FT’s swish... 27-22.

Radell takes a charge! Cougs ball, 3:05 left...

Sweet Aidan pass to Radell for a score...

Cougs get a stop, wild play... Aidan gets to the rack and hits a leaner! And he’s fouled... FT goes. 32-22.

Serra scores a midrange... 32-24. Carter fouled, double bonus... Misses both, surprisingly...

So cougs stel it back... But can’t score. Serra does, inside... 32-26.

Aidan breaks a dude’s ankles, but charges someone else...

And that ends the half. 32-26 Cougs.
 
I believe Aidan leads both teams with 13 points... Nobody on either team has more than 2 fouls at the half.
 
Robeson for 3 to start it off... 35-26.

Serra with a midrange...

Robeson called for a charge... 35-28. 5:25 left.

Callas terrific rebound, length of the court drive, pass out to Robeson for 3... GOOD!

Serra comes back with 2, and Robeson nails another 3! 41-30.
 
Callas with a nice drive for 2... Serra calls time. 43-30. 3:43 left in the 3rd.
 
Serra big #44 scores a hook shot...

SWEET pass, Aidan to Radell... 45-32.

Serra banks home a 3...

Serra #3 scores... 45-37.

Robeson for 3!!

Serra #11 scores inside. 48-39.

Time out Cougs to avoid a turnover. 38.4 left in the 3rd, 48-39 Cougs.
 
Callas fouled at the buzzer, 2 shots.

Misses both... so the quarter ends 48-39.
 
Steal by Cade Bennett... drives, misses, but Aidan is there to tip it in. 50-39.

Cougs get a stop, Aidan drives, is fouled... Makes 1 of 2. 51-39.

Another stop... Aidan passes to Radell, who is fouled. FT’s split. 52-39.
 
Serra scores on a baseline inbounds... 52-41.

Serra loses it over and back...

Aidan with the ol’ swipe-under move to draw a foul... FT’s split... 53-41.

Serra drive and score... Time out, 53-43, 4:46 left in the ball game.
 
Serra #5 scores inside... 53-45.

Serra in full-on press now.

#5 at the line for 2 after Aidan foul... FT’s split. 53-46.

Cougars finally get Callas to the line on a wild play... FT’s go. 55-46.

Serra #3 nice move and shot... 55-48.

Serra #5 gets inside, fouled by Aidan... FT’s missed!

Aidan with a GORGEOUS drive and half-hook... Serra right back with a 3. 57-51. Time out Serra, 2:15 left.
 
Aidan with another great drive, misses layup, but tips it back in! Serra fouled, sinks 2 FT’s. 59-53.

Pass inside to Callas, he misses, but is fouled... FT’s go! 61-53.

Long Serra shot misses.. rebound by cougs... they break the press, Robeson lays it up! 63-53.

Serra drives and scores, 63-55, time out... with 27.8 seconds left. Serra stands are really, really.... quiet. :)

I know you gotta look at the full body of work for each team.... but pretty sure my Gaels were a common opponent for both squads right!?!?!? Did campo lose to Dublin twice or just once?

Is that why DLS wasn’t selected to the NCS Open? That’s my beef. Either DLS should have competed with the top teams in the Open, or been seeded below them in NorCal. They got the best of both worlds, by being the best team not selected to the Open and easily win NCS D1, then leapfrogging 3 NCS Open teams for the NorCal #4 seed.

So now Campo has to go on the road to face the #2 seed Capital Christian while DLS gets a home game vs #5 M-A. I think DLS has a hell of a team, but Campo got totally screwed in that exchange.

Those are totally fair points, but DLS beat capital Christian and is seeded below them right? You wanna talk about getting screwed.... the disparity between Dougherty valleys NCS seed vs their Norcal seed is an ABSOLUTE JOKE.... maybe the worst of the bunch.

Like the Norcal open, they for sure should have taken 8 teams in the NCS open. De la salle plus one more. SPSV probably if you wanna go by talent. That would have alleviated some of these D1 seeding issues.

NCS Open:
1) dublin
2) salesian
3) bod
4) campo
5) san leandro
6) Dougherty valley

7) de la salle
8) SPSV

In reality san Leandro and dv(without Beasley) had ZERO business being there any way. Replace those two with de anza and Piedmont and you have a sweet NCS open
 
So donnies hindsight 20/20 NCS open would have looked like this:

1) BOD
2) Dublin
3) salesian
4) campo
5) de la salle
6) SPSV
7) de anza
8) Piedmont
