Norcal's Top Unsigned Seniors ... Who are you excited to see at the next level?

I agree Jackson is 100% a d1 player. I am a big fan of Hewlett from Sheldon I hope someone takes a shot on him he has great size and length for his position.

he’s another that can get in the floor since his size and athletic ability allows him to get after it against almost anyone

Who do you think on that list right now is a clear d1 player?
Roy
Wilburn
Rosche
Sawyer
Hewlett
McGee
Jackson
Thompson
I aint talking North Carolina, Georgetown, Kentucky or Kansas... but there are plenty of D1 schools that must not have seen or heard of these guys.
Some of them have offers so i guess its just them not signed yet

Is Jackson legit 6”10? 10 years ago he would have multiple pAc12 offers. The game has changed so much. Almost a liability to be back to basket guy.

I use to call out a lot of guys I thought were d2 and people would get so upset. Go to a chico state game and tell me some of those kids are d2 kids. Justin Briggs from river city who is 6”10 250 just made all west region and be would kick a lot of d1 players asses. You have to be so good so play d1. Put it this way.. you have to be able to screw around in any high school game and get 20 + effortlessly.

Seen Wilburn play several times. He is a decent all around player. He was very inconsistent through out the season. He could possibly land at at small D1. He is more of D2-D3 . I hear his coach and mother are really soliciting for a scholarship. His coach has good local contact like Stanislaus state and Local JC's. He is known for sending players out of state to play at JC to improve skill set and then hopefully get noticed by a 4 year school. Hopefully he lands some where local. He has a good following at Weston Ranch. They got a kid on that team I think the name Donjay Lindsey who is a stronger player than Wilburn. . Wish the best for Wilburn.

I’d like to see Hargrove, Hewlett & J Will at the next level. I think the three of them didn’t get a chance to shine and showcase all their skills at Sheldon. Hargrove coulda used another season at Franklin. His ability to score was on full display. All will probably have to go the JC route now but we shall see

why go out of state to play JC ball when SFCC sends 5 guys every year D1? If I’m Wilburn I’m going to SF City! Going out of state JC ball for Wilburn makes zero sense, he’s a perfect fit for SFCC.

Ccsf might not think the same as you. They arent struggling for players. Not saying he wouldnt get burn but really they have plenty of options. Going out of state allows you the chance to play for a 'national title' at least and more options of on campus living.

Good luck cracking lineup at “City”. Go up to SRJC and play for McMillan. In top 10 of state consistently and send guys to college.

City is trying to get all the local talent! Believe me I have sent the staff all contact information to them from the kids I love and coached. Gavin included if nothing else comes down the line. I have been in Gavin's life since he was 9 years old. He and Bryce played tiny mite football together.

that lineup is moving on 5 D1 signees and possible 2 more. They reload every year and go 10 deep. They would without a doubt love to have Wilburn.

I think the best fit for Wilburn would be go NAIA at William Jessup in Roseville or Cal Maritime in Vallejo. Two good schools with good teams and great academics. He would fit well there and get playing time. Plus local fans can follow him. Nothing a matter with NAIA schools very competitive.

Ccsf has seen Wilburn play at least 2 or 3 times. THEY like him a lot. IF JC is an option, they are on his line. TRUST me...And Wilburn was the best player on WR hands down. HE has a nice inside/outside game for a lower wing....SG..

NAIA can get overlooked. However, Jessup moved to NCAA DII a few years ago. In the last 10 years, there's been a number of Schools that jumped from NAIA to NCAA DII, including Dominican, Holy Names, Menlo, Jessup, Cal State East Bay. Now, in the Bay Area, there's just Maritime and Pacific Union in Angwin. Maritime great school, but with a narrow academic focus and has had some success on the court. Other schools in NorCal - Simpson (Redding) and UC Merced.

Jessup is 100% not a ncaa d2 school they are NAIA

I just read that Weston Ranch sent player to a JC in Wyoming. Name was J. Johnson.. Best o luck in Wyoming. Ain't nothing like Cali.

Jessup is a good program and coach Von Vogt is a competitor. There program always does well. Its great academically and the student/athletes are well taken care of. Don't sleep on NAIA, especially Jessup. I would choose a NAIA school over Stanislaus state.

Definitely NAIA. Nothing wrong with that. I see Wilson LaShells from Monte Vista on the roster, older brother of Spencer LaShells who plays at Chico St.

https://jessupathletics.com/index.aspx

Spencer been a nice role player for Chico. Jessup is NAiA. Really nice facility for a smaller school.
Point is there are a lot of options. D1 is a Grind as well and not for everyone. Playing in college at any level is a great achievement.

I agree that playing at the next levels is a big accomplishment and achievement .Hopefully the parents and athlete understand that. I hope these athletes find the right school athletically and academically. Take the time to research schools, because when its all done. Its memories and hopefully a great experience with a college degree.

But do naia schools offer full athletic scholarships? I think you have to get an academic scholarship or regular financial aid/loans
NAIA Division 1 can offer up to 11 athletic scholarships. NAIA D2 can offer up to 6 athletic scholarships. Both can be divided up between full, half and quarter scholarships.

are they only available to athletes? or are they academic that then play athletics.

What's the point of playing NAIA?

Most players would be better off long term focusing on school.
