Pinewood jumps out to a 9-2 lead less than two minutes in. Windward trying to get in a jump shooting contest, which won't end well

Open Division is fun.

Lot of skill out there. Pinewood leads 12-10 with 357 left Q1

Windward end Q1 on a 13-5 run to take a 15-14 lead after eight minutes. Charisma Osborne has seven points and two rebounds

Windward leads 21-16 with 559 left in the half. Pinewood has missed 5 straight threes after making its first two

Windward is up 25-21 with 237 left in the half. Hannah Jump has 9 points on 4-for-5 shooting with three rebounds

Windward leads Pinewood 32-21 at halftime. Wildcats are +6 from the 3 point line and forced nine Pinewood turnovers in Q2.

Osborne has 15 points scoring inside and out.

Windward now up 43-27 with 428 left Q3. Osborne has 21 points on 11 shots in 18 minutes.

Windward wins the quarter by a point in leading Pinewood 47-35. Klara Astrom leads Pinewood with 12 points. Hannah Jump has 9 points, but only seven shots.

Windward up 58-45 with 249 left Q4. Pinewood got within six points at 5:55, but haven't scored since.

Windward wins the Open title with a 58-47 win over Pinewood. They won Division I last year. Osborne finished with 26 points and English had 14. McKayla Williams had 8 points and 8 rebounds off the bench.

Astrom (15) and Thompson (14) were in double figures for Pinewood

That was a REALLY bad game for the officials. Pinewood would have lost regardless of the officials as the athletes on windward were too much to overcome. But those officials were really really bad and i have no dog in that fight.

Enough complaining about the official,s, they were bad both ways. When you live by the three in an arena , you die by the three. The teams that go inside/ outside and focus on the defensive end are the teams that win state titles. The better team won. The officials had nothing to do with it. Also let's put to rest all those national rankings. The # 23 ranked team in the nation became the California States best . They had the best player and she proved it. By the way she did not foul out.

Agree with everything you said im not "complaining" they were just a bad crew thats all. Its a discussion board

Like I said before the game...Osborne...Osborne...Osborne...
Winward shot 41% on 3s...PW shot 35% on 3s....
PW should have shot more 3s....they did shoot enough of them...
Osborne was the difference...the ...Telecast cast showed
a graphic where Maxapreps had Mitty still as Number one in California...
I call BS on that logic

Best coach prevails, Mitty that is...

Windward won, I thought, because of its superior halfcourt defense and the fact that Pinewood had no way to contain Osborne one-on-one.

Congrats to Doc and his team for getting there, and congrats to Windward for winning a second straight state title.

These two teams are the poster girls for competitive equity. By enrollment, they're playing for the D4 (depending on where you draw the line, and remember each section draws it differently) and D5 titles.

Poster girls for the open not for competitive equity.

Now that Pinewood didn't win the state championship I think Mitty with only 1 loss will still be in the top 1-5 in the nation in my final SOS poll. I'll have to look and see how other top teams in the nation ended their season. And just how tough their final tournament was. Like last season when Clovis West won the Nike TOC in Arizona ( perhaps the toughest tournament in the nation) one has to take that into consideration for Mitty who also loss a key 6ft starter down the stretch. Too bad for Norcal Pinewood came up short to a tough opponent.

Congratulations to Windward !
