Bubble

MM disqualified... Duck...
PW doesn't want it ....Tank

Only two teams left...

The list seems about as reasonable as any at this point. We can quibble around the edges. Not sure about No.8, however.

1. SM Stockon
2. Miramonte
3. Mitty
4. Pinewood
5. Salesian
6. BOD
7. Oak ridge
8. Carondelet

Bubble
Brookside
Sacred heart
Sac high
Vanden

assuming:
1) Salesian wins the D4 section
2) Oak Ridge makes it to the SJS D1 final vs. SMS...BUT def not a given...
3) Pinewood makes it to the final vs. Mitty in CCS open...

ALL of those assumptions are reasonable...

I think you are spot on seeding 1-7.....#8 of course is the wildcard.

What is Brookside tears thru D4 in the SJS, demolishing everyone along the way?
What if Clet does the same in NCS D2?
What if Sac hi or Vanden wins their section?

I think 3 out of the NCS is a given.....
2 out of the CCS is a given....
1 out of the SJS is a given....

that leaves 2......I think the SJS needs to step up and fill those last 2 spots up....

Brookside has a head to head win vs SHC...that may come into play for the #8 seed....

Have question would all head to head come in play because if Brookside goes to the open they have a win against Pinewood?

What if Oak Ridge gets knock off McClachy 2nd round that would shake up alot?

Last question what if Pinewood takes a lost in the second round of the CCS Open???

So with all them Questions it might look like this in the Open
1) SMS
2) MM
3) Mitty
4) Salesian
5) BOD
6) Brookside
7) SHC
8) Pinewood

Wow if that happens I would be on my way to Las Vegas????? lol

Oak Ridge does not want to be in the Open Division. They want to stay in D1. They only played against one (Clovis West) CalHiSports Top 20 team -- both current Top 20 and previous Top 20 team this season, and has not played against a current CalHiSports "Bubble Team." They always receive high favorable MaxPreps rankings, but that's due to the league they play in and the very few losses they incur (due to not playing the top teams). So really they are untested. Don't let the high MaxPreps ranking they have fool you. They haven't played enough top teams in California to deserve their current #12 rank in the State.

I agree that Oak Ridge wants no part of the open...but if they are sitting there at 28-2 with their only losses to SMS and Clovis, and a 2nd place finish in the SJS D1 section..I don't think they can be kept out.

The problem with the head to heads.....Pinewood beat BOD who beat Brookside who beat Pinewood...so they cancel each other out. And BOD and Pinewood have the higher Max Preps and Cal Hi rankings which are always taken into account by the committee. BC would get the higher seed if SHC sneaks into the last open spot or if SHC happens to beat Pinewood in the CCS open.

Pinewood also beat Salesian so barring a early loss in CCS they will be in.

Locks are SMS, Miramonte, Mitty, pinewood. BOD, & Salesian

Of the remaining teams I think they grab the highest eligible team from SJS and the best remaining team which is likely Carondelet.

Sac high and Brookside played tough schedules but too many losses, Vanden and sacred heart have too many losses to teams that would go in above them.

Carondelet beat Vanden twice and they're not likely to be challenged at all in a weak NCS D2 bracket this year, with defending champ Dublin moving up to D1. The Cougars will be a logical candidate for the 7 or 8 spot in the Open, although I'm sure they'd rather remain in D2 for NorCal as Mitty moves up to the Open.

Does Clovis West play in NorCal or SoCal? If they play in NorCal they could make the Open Division.

Don't be surprised if Pinewood loses early in CCS open........just like Mitty did last year.
:D all the way to a division state championship, another banner in their gym, and more kids in the future.
Pinewood should be in the Open this year regardless of CCS finish just like Mitty should have been last year.
Carondelet, O'Dowd, Brookside and Salesian should all be in also.

SMS, Mitty, MM, Pwood, O'Dowd, Clet, Brookside, and Salesian. Final 8.

SMS v. Salesian
Pwood v. Clet
Mitty v. O'Dowd
MM v. Brookside

Brookside Christian defeated Pinewood in overtime. Pinewood PG Bri Claros injured her knee for the season during that game.

Pinewood has wins over two Open teams in Salesian and BOD and an OT loss to Brookside. Maybe Brookside gets in as well
