OPEN SECTIONS......NCS style...

When I first heard about the open CCS section I was very skeptical.

After making the trip down to watch it the last couple of yrs I'm sold...I like it.

Am I correct that every team gets 3 games? (like an 8 team tourney) and then you are automatically placed back into
your sections for Norcals if you aren't one of the final 2 ?

The only downside I can see is that the teams don't get a chance to win their individual sections.

Honestly I'd like to see the NCS do it...

How much fun would an 8 team NCS be this year?

I don't think it is a 3-game -guarantee anymore.

I don;t think it ever was. Lose first two games and that's it. An all teams that don't get chosen for the open can go back to their divisions for NorCal. There is no guarantee that top two in section go to open although realistically it is likely, almost surely so this season.

It was the first year. I think after that everyone came to their senses. Kind of silly to have two 0-2 teams square off to see who is 7th best in the section and send one to NorCals on a 3 game losing streak.

Never happened. The first year of CCS Open was after the 2012 - 2013 season. Pinewood and Eastside Prep both lost first and second round games to WCAL teams. There was no seventh place CCS Open game, but those two teams met again in the D5 NorCal championship game.
