An unconfirmed report out of CCS indicates that a number of Pinewood transfers have been ruled ineligible. Anyone out there got the accurate info?
If that is true, seems over reaching by section. You have a sit out period. Just because a team doens't play the right amount of games in your mind, you would then add to the transfer penalty.Nothing official here, just a thought. Pinewood scheduled 6 games in December and 15 in the second semester when transfers become eligible. Maybe CCS said nice try but they need to sit out a few more games.
CCS is completely inconsistent in their enforcement of the transfer and "undue" influence rules. Currently decisions regarding eligibility are subjective and based on hearsay, Innuendo and interpretation. No player should have to sit out a year in high school! The issue allegedly involves breaking or evading transfer rules. But confirmation has been elusive.
Well....it looks like we have our 3rd legit CCS open team now...Pinewood still has Oakland Tech, CN and CLet left on their regular season schedule. See how PW finishes with those games left.I just watched the end of the game on NFHS. Pinewood upset Salesian, 67-62. The only transfer, Ava Uhrich, 5-11 F, played the entire game while I was watching the fourth quarter. She scored on three drives and one inside basket all from the right side of the basket. Pinewood also hit a couple of three pointers. Panthers are now 3-4 and the Pride slips to 12-2.
I definitely agree this team will be stronger in the coming weeks. Worth noting I heard that Sophia Fidelus did not play for Salesian, however. Not sure why.Well....it looks like we have our 3rd legit CCS open team now...Pinewood still has Oakland Tech, CN and CLet left on their regular season schedule. As I said on an earlier thread, over the summer Doc was telling people how much he liked this year's squad. They have a good staff and a GREAT culture...Im thinking reports of PW's demise may have been premature.
It's not a high bar for inclusion in the CCS Open tourney. Basically, it's Mitty and a collection of sacrificial lambs lined up for unfortunate trips to the hoops woodshed. The expected group below the Monarchs is particularly weak in 2023. And that includes Pinewood.Well....it looks like we have our 3rd legit CCS open team now...Pinewood still has Oakland Tech, CN and CLet left on their regular season schedule. Pinewood shot 67% from the field (including 67% from three). That'll beat almost everyone. 22 pts 8 rb for Uhrich.
Agree they won't compete with Mitty, but otherwise, they'll occupy their usual place in/among the girls basketball nobility.
You nailed it. Nice call. Kudos to Coach Doc for going on the road and winning a huge game.
