Didn't get nearly enough attention on these threads but what an unbelievable game. I came away thinking that Pittsburg completely threw that game away and major credit to the Pittsburg defense and in turn to Nahjee Harris. Antioch's coaching is completely inept and it shows with Nahjee being asked to carry the ball 40 times when Antioch obviously has talented players on that team. Jordan Parker looked like Deion Sanders against the run and was beat late on a big pass. Beltran had a good game for Antioch on defense and I can't say enough about Charlie Ramirez for Pittsburg. Ramirez was every where for Pittsburg and I see why he is top 50 NorCal recruit at that size. A lot of great football players on the field today. If Montez Thompson holds on to the ball all game then Pittsburg wins by three touchdowns. Antioch will not make it to the NCS title game and even if they do, De La Salle will beat them 63-7

Two minutes into the game, after Najee Harris opened-up his season long can of whoop-ass and scored from 60 yards out, and then rushed the ball down Pitts pie-hole for the 2 pt. conversion, one could have been excused for thinking-singing a hsfootball version of the Black-Eyed Peas, "It's gonna be a LONG night..." for Pitts fans who were part of the 5,372 who showed up for the game, albeit in the afternoon. Yeh. But then this is hsfootball, and sometimes the wheels on the bus don't always go round and round and round, as for the rest of the first half, Pitt found its soul (the one that dedades ago caused the hiccup in De La Salle's near infinity win streak) and pretty much shut Najee down to outscore Antioch 28-14 by the end of the half which ended with both teams trading fumble recovery and interception which neither team could capitalize on.

Then, as the hsfootball gods of fate would have it, or maybe, just maybe, someone rushed out to the nearby 7-11 for a case of Najee's cans of whoop-ass which was drunk down by the entire team, because after halftime, after letting Pitt recover a fumble on its own 3 yard line (cans of whoop-ass take about 10 minutes to metabloize before the whooping effect kicks in) and, with the secret whoop-ass ingrediants finally kicking in, the Pitt center, no doubt terrified by a wall of whoop-ass juiced-up D-linemen snipped his snap and Antioch, after snatching that 2 pt safety, and with Najee finally finding his wheels and enough holes to drive through, went on to out score Pitt 30-14 rest of the 2nd half come from behind and win a 2pt squeeker which, were it not for that 2pt safety in the 3rd qtr, the score coulda been tied 42-42 with who the heck knows how that wild game would have ended during OT (although the equipment managers of both teams were seen running into the 7-11 and down the aisle where the cases of whoop-ass are stacked!

Maybe it wasn't the prettiest hsfootball game in the history of the sport, and maybe some of the refs calls seemed a little lop-sided (though not for any evil purpose other than maybe from wrong angles or blocked looks), but it was one hekkova a thriller with the only fan disappointment being if their team lost. Yeh, it was one real heart palpater. Muds

I skimmed through the game last night. The pick 6 that occurred once the Panthers were down 21-8 really swung the game. It almost got away from them. Najee put the team on his back in an exciting 4th QTR.

Here's a replay of the game if anybody's interested. If anything, at least check out the 4th QTR:

Thompson scured the other all league running back spot with Harris in my opinion. #7 for Antioch is a promising Junior for them and the Pitt defensively line is all juniors. These teams aren't going any where. Now we will see if Antioch will start scheduling accordingly. By the way I like Friday nights better. Sittting in the sun for 5 hours made for a log day. hahaha

Yeah, Thompson is definitely a player. Both RB's were over 200 in the game. Thompson rushed for 218 and 3 TD's. Harris rushed for 268 and 4 TD's (3 in the 4th quarter alone).

Nice turnout for the game too. Over 6,000+.

Speaking from someone whose team played all of their home games at 1pm on Saturday, I couldn't agree more. My alma mater installed lights and switched to Fri. nigh games around a dozen or more years ago, but far too late for my playing days. There were some hot days over the years that probably helped my school win some games they probably wouldn't have because other teams weren't accustomed to playing day games like we were. However, we also lacked the student/fan support we would have had for night games.

To me, that's what Jesuit-Carmichael is missing (even with their new state-of-the-art facility) and why they've played at Hughes Stadium many times over the years. Kids love playing under the lights and fans certainly find it more convenient and comfortable to attend.

After watching the game I'm wishing I had went to it, that was an exciting game.

Lot's to like from both teams. Harris is an absolute beast at RB, and I'm digging Pitt moving to the spread. I think that's only going to make them better in the future.

#7 D-Back (Anton Tanner) truly was a key factor during the game for Antioch when twice, during the 2nd and 3rd quarters, he run back interceptions of 49+ and 25 yards for 2 of Antioch's TDs. (Talk about sitting in warm weather for hours on a Saturday afternoon, or even on calm Friday nights these days, reminds one of days of yore when almost every season at least 1 or 2 games were played during rain storms before the words global warming and climate change ever occured to Al Gore. Ahhhh, mud. Those were the days. Muddenguts

my thoughts after this game

1. day games suck, i prefer friday
2. what an amazing game, it was well worth the $8
3. what an amazing atmosphere... that place was pretty packed, both sides bleachers going nuts

both teams got really lucky a few times
antioch botched 2 snaps inside the 5 yard line otherwise harris probably scores 2 more times... pitt got lucky here

antioch got 2 defensive TDs when their offense was struggling to move the ball... antioch got lucky here

each team had a couple close ones to open WRs on deep balls but just couldn't quite connect

there were at least 20 plays that couldve swung the game one way or another

a few head scratching calls/noncalls

but in the end it was a great HS football game
good to see an old school rivalry back

i am sure Pitt will want to take it to antioch next year after storming midfield as the game ended
