This coming Sat. night finds the game of the week between Marin Catholic and Cardinal Newman at Rancho-Cotate HI at 7 P.M. It looks like the Gods of High School football has guided these two teams to meet and the winner will move on to possibly meet Central catholic or Oakdale??....In the past, Cardinal Newman met Central catholic at the Battle of the Capitol at Del Oro Hi. and they also had preseason meets also...
D-1
DLS 11-1 Vs. Foothill 12-0 at Dublin Hi on Sat. at 7 P.M....Who is going to win it, unfortunately every thing points to the Green Machine in a run away....The Spartans run a punishing O and D and have been ruthless in their victories with many shut outs...California lucked out and met them twice and both times, they could not score and if any body could, we thought that California could do it.
And then look what happened to Pittsburg....The Line Score..
DLS.........42.....14.....07.....07.....70
Pittsburg..00.....07.....00.....07.....14
DLS rolled up 56 points during the first half, but the Pirates did manage to score seven in the second quarter.
And then compare Foothill against Antioch....The Line Score..
Foothill.....07.....07.....20.....21.....55
Antioch ....08....08.....08.....30.....54
Foothill slugged it out in the first half, but was behind 16-14 and then they exploded for 41 in the second half, but the Panthers came up with 30 in the fourth quarter and almost stopped the Falcons.... Foothill can't afford to give up that many points to DLS like Pittsburg did...Its going to take a all out plan and sneaky tactic's to get by DLS, but we are talking about the Spartans..
DLS 52 Foothill 14
D-2
CVC 11-1 Vs. Concord 9-4 at DVC at 7 P.M. on Sat......Concord lost their first meeting to CVC 42-22 and now they face that same determined defense again and the running of Jackson...Now the Minutemen in last weeks clash with Miramonte surprised every body with a 60-32 victory...So with this win under their belts, they should be ready for the Eagles...Maybe...
CVC 42 Concord 28
D-3
Campolindo 12-1 Vs. Analy 13-0 at DVC on Friday night at 7 P.M......The Cougars have that big front three in Strothers,Flowers and Cassidy which makes running straight ahead, a tough decision, how Analy plans to attack the Cougars will be from all ends and they showed how it works by knocking off Rancho-Cotate which was no easy task....This game could be the second game of the week, as there should be plenty of fire works..
Campolindo 37 Analy 30
D-4
Marin Catholic 11-1 Vs. Cardinal Newman 11-2 at Rancho- Cotate on Sat. night at 7 P.M.....MC sports a big aggressive line for defense, but does not have the speed that CN has. CN has a one-two punch in Brookshire and Ortola, plus Brookshire's ability to scramble and get out of trouble and turn it into big yardage....MC sports QB Peterson who has a good arm and can get out of trouble also, plus he has two big running backs which will give CN's defense a hard time....This is a game that could turn into a defensive battle or a wild shoot-out and a shoot-out is more likely...Who ever makes the most mistakes...looses..This game could go either way..
Marin Catholic 31 Cardinal Newman 28..
D-5
Berean Christian 11-1 Vs. Bernard Academy 11-1 at Alhambra Hi on Sat. at 7 P.M....We have two small schools, but the Eagles are the largest at 453 while Bernard Academy is at 167...The Crusaders belong to the Humbolt Del Norte Little Four that has only four teams in the league which means they face league teams twice. The Crusaders have only one loss to Justin-Siena 35-14 and a close call with a win over Ferndale 37-36. For the Eagles, the playoff has not been easy with win s over Stellar Prep 6-2 and a 31-28 win over Valley Christian, plus a OT win over John Swett 37-36 and their only loss was to Cloverdale 28-24..
The Eagle have a big line and a lot of speed and had little trouble in league play while the Crusaders got by each league game, but not by decivise wins.
Berean Christian 41 Bernard Academy 28....

Nice work as always Bluedog. One question though, Isn't Jackson one of the many injured Ugly Eagles that are sidelined or is he back for this game?

I think these are spot on. I would go with Cardinal Newman in D4, but this is a classic toss up game

Do you think the CVC/Concord game will be close at all? I see this has being the most lopsided out of all the match ups.

God bless.

RodneyPete,

This is a huge rivalry game, so I think this will be an intense, hard-fought game that will be relatively close. If anything, CVC might pull away in the 2nd half. Contrary to popular belief, this game will be a defensive battle.

Observer22....If Jackson is not back on the field, the Eagles will have a tougher time putting points up on the score board.....Concord surprised every body with the 60-32 win over Miramonte which should give them a boost, but the Eagle defense is tough, so like the Bay Reporter stated, the eagles could pull away in the second half...DVC is a fast track field, so this may be an exciting game...

Not bad but I think he missed CN in D4.
I saw CN in the early going and with Brookshire's ability to get out of trouble and start trouble, his presents will cause concern for MC...Like I said, this game could go either way, I like CN, but I saw what the MC defense is capable of, who ever makes the most turn overs or makes bad judgements on the field will be the turning point...One could say CN 40 MC 30, this is a game to see....
