Playoffs 2nd Round Possible Upsets?

Hoping one the NBL D2 teams can pull off an upset. Petaluma vs Rancho should be a good match up in NCS D3. Amador vs Antioch could be a close one in NCS D1. Piedmont vs Fortuna in NCS D4 should be good. People are also saying Justin Siena is good so Cardinal Newman could be on the upset radar but I doubt it.

Petaluma recently beat Novato (down year) and almost beat Analy #2 seed, thatight be a good call. Can they match up athletically with that WR from Rancho? Fortuna has to beat Piedmont to get some respect. Either way, it looks like CN or JS winner are better than Piedmont or Fortuna.

Piedmont beat JS by 2 tds early in season. JS has played well, could shock CN

Sutter over Lassen #4 over #1 and West Valley over Orland #3 over #2. Sutter at West Valley for Section Championship. Just won't be Thanksgiving with Sutter not in title game. ;)

In the SJS D4 bracket #8 Los Banos travels to #4 Liberty Ranch and pulls off another upset sending them to the section finals to play the winner of #2 Calaveras and #3 Sierra (I think Sierra Wins).

D3 SJS #5 Placer over #4 Patterson. Not an upset in my book, mis seeding.

D4 SJS #6 Bear River over #2 Capital Christian. CC hasn't been really tested. Although, I hear their freshman rb is a stud.

D2 SJS #5 DO vs #4 Wood is going to be a great game. Wouldn't surprise me if DO won this one.

Maybe because Max Preps power ratings has DO @ 43.3 and Wood's @ 40.5, and has DO predicted to win 35-34. I would agree that by the seating, a #4 beating a #5 wouldn't classify as an upset. But a long time dominate SFL power losing to a upstart MEL team might be considered an upset to many of our posters.

SJS DI (#6)Cosumnes Oaks over (#3)Oak Ridge. 35-28 - I don't see this happening.
SJS DII (#7)Sacramento over (#2)Antelope 48-45 - I agree. High scoring game. Should be nail biter.
SJS DII (#9)Granite Bay over (#1)Grant 24-20 - Totally agree. Granite Bay will pull out a close one.

SJS D2 is interesting. If GB upsets @Grant in 2nd Rnd, and D.O. gets by WCWood, then I believe D.O. would be back home v. GB, in a rematch of week before last SFL last reg season game. I see Rocklin def DC, and agree Sac over Antelope in nail biter.

SJS D1, I see top 3 seeds advancing to semi's, with St. Marys #5 def. Napa #4 in an upset.

#9 Stellar Prep over #1 Berean Christian in NCS d5. BC should be the favorite but would not be shocked with the upset here.

D3 SJS #5 Placer over #4 Patterson. Not an upset in my book, mis seeding

Regardless of who is 4 or 5 one beating the other would not be an upset in fact only a .3 rating separates the 2 schools with Placer being slightly higher.

I think it is a tough one on who wins this, I haven't seen Placer play at all this year, so I obviously can't say anything about them other than I know they will be by far the best team Patterson has faced all year. I have seen almost all of Patterson's games and I can say they have not been truly tested yet either. They played some sloppy football early in the season and some of the games looked closer than they should have been, but they have seemed to clean up alot of the sloppiness as of late. If you never seen any of their games the final scores are somewhat misleading in some of the games. They tend to let off the gas after a 30 point lead on the defensive side and than it seems the rest of the game is all offense between both teams. often times I have wondered if after a 30 point lead they put there JV defense in the game lol. I know this is an issue the coach is not very happy about, but it is what it is and hopefully they are ready to play a whole 48 min instead of just a half.

So now that I have given my 2 cents for what it is worth, I will say I don't necessarily disagree the 2 teams seeding maybe should be reversed, but I still think until this game is played, that is a difficult opinion to throw out there as well since the 2 teams seem to be so closely ranked, so I was wondering how you came to your opinion regarding the seeds? Have you seen Patterson play? I mean they could very well be way overrated, which would be a direct reflection of how horrible their competition really was. A few of those teams were absolutely horrible.

#9 Stellar Prep over #1 Berean Christian in NCS d5. BC should be the favorite but would not be shocked with the upset here.

I went to Berean (a very long time ago), and have been amazed all year by this team that has practically zero history of football success. Haven't actually gone to a game, but I *might* go to this one... BC lost to Cloverdale by 4 in their opener, and Stellar beat Cloverdale 35-0 last week. Doesn't sound good for BC, but CalPreps picks them to beat Stellar 34-17. By this late in the year CalPreps's computer picker program is usually quite accurate, but this one kinda baffles me.

For me, what I'm hoping for is that this unexpected success in football for the Eagles carries over to my big sport, basketball. Berean has been solid for a small school in hoops over the years, but not at all since I moved back here from Oregon three years ago.

Any possible matchups that can be an upset in round 2?
Not necessarily calling an upset, but NCS D4 Moreau Catholic vs St.Marys Berkeley might be very interesting.Moreau won the season opener 38-14 over SMB,but look for a closer game this time.

I see Wood beating DO. DO doesn't have the physical play they are known for. Relying on the big every to win games won't March you on in the playoffs. As for Sac and Antelope, I don't an upset. Antelope has the running and passing game to slow things and an ok enough def to match athletes with Sac. Sac's only tough game this season was a depleted Rocklin team. I see Grant over GB. Again, GB is not as physical as they usually are. Grant will run. All that being said, that's why they play the games.

Cloverdale was rolling along with their stud, but he went down after 7-0 and they went downhill after that so that SP 35-0 doesn't mean much against Cloverdale.....I don't think Cloverdale scores in their last 4 games without their best player

Seems as if you and I are in the same boat as far as being a fan of our teams. I too have seen most games, watched the dumb early season mistakes, enjoyed the progress made and finished by watching running clocks to end most games. The reason I think the seeding should be reversed is simple( SOS, rankings, and homerism :)-) my term). The commitee also might have considered our smaller enrollment in the equation.
At least we get to see on Friday(really would have preferred to see it on Auburn )
Truth is, Patterson has had a fine year and may end up beating Placer but I doubt it.

I really think Oak Ridge could be in for a tough game against CO. In fact its not a good matchup for OR. CO has a lot of speed and OR doesn't. CO has been under the radar most of the season. I would not be surprised to see a victory by CO. I will be out there reporting…..

As for Newman and Siena… Newman makes a statement and thumps Justin 42-14.

CO is explosive. That Davis kid can fly and they have big play potential and don't fear anyone. They just need to play defense. It might come down to who scores last.

Okay, I had no idea what Cloverdale had and lost, though I did notice their level of performance went down later on in the season. One stud player can make such a gigantic difference in tiny-school ball...

ST, I wish I had the same confidence level in my team as you have in yours, but the truth is, I have my doubts. Like I said in a previous post, they have not been truly tested yet and I firmly believe this game will prove if they are for real or not. Regardless of who wins, I am hoping for a good game and hope its a competitive game. But of course I have to end this post with GO TIGERS...;)
