26-0 now after a tough 72-63 win on the road against a solid Placer team. They go for history Friday night! Currently last remaining undefeated in calif. I’ve been talking them up all year and they continue to impress. Old school team that you would see 20 years ago when kids grew up playing together at early age and stayed together.

Look for a deep post season run in d2.

Pondo finished strong easy win over an overly matched Rio lindo team.
Congrats coach Clark for making history and good luck in playoffs!
d2 is loaded
Pondo, Elk Grove, Whitney , oakmont, antelope…

If Pondo runs the table and wins D2. They have to be strongly considered for a Norcal Open bid.

the gift and the curse. rather stay in d2 and get the title instead of playing sierra canyon or mater dei
Yeah keep them in d2. As much as I love this team they don’t belong in the open. If max manfredi was eligible this year (6”5 transfer) I think they would cause all sorts of problems with everybody in norcal including Modesto Christian, Campo, Mitty, Lincoln. Etc. He’s the only piece missing from that elite level status.
Otherwise like I said earlier in season I think they have a good chance for a deep run.

In the past, teams that have not had a strong record of success at the NorCal level, were able to opt out of The NorCal Open, whereas teams like Sheldon or BOD were forced in (not that they would have opted out). Is that still the case?

Pondo is one hell of a team!

They have a good shot at the “Open curse”, which I’m sure they will make no moves to avoid.

Zero chance they will be in d2 in norcals with competitive equity. D1 minimum

Didn’t the CIF get rid of divisions by enrollment and place teams based on NorCal rankings?

In regionals and state, yes, it’s by “competitive equity”.

At the section level, the equity thing varies by section. Since SJS doesn’t have an Open division, the school-size thing is at least a factor…. No matter what any section does, there will be grey-area stuff.
