Problems with NCS brackets

Who makes up NCS selection committee? Clearly no one from this msg board!! Here are some unexplainable seeding issues and pairings.

D1- hard to mess up cuz lot of teams play each other and its all about who gets to play DLS for championship

D2-I think #10 for American, MVAL champion at 8-2 is low. Granted MVAL not great but they are a league champ with win over Moreau and a quality loss to D1 #11 Dublin. #6Maria Carillo(6-4) #7 Casa Grande (4-6) #8 Pinole(6-4) and #9 Windsor (6-4) all NOT league champs could easily been under American. I think Granada (4-6) getting a #4 is high, certainly over #5 Tennyson (8-2) with only losses to D1 San Leandro in OT and Logan. Granada has a lot of "quality" losses, whatever that worth.

D3 - Campo Analy and Rancho obviously 1-2-3. Odowd at #4 is a joke. At 5-5 with NO quality wins they do not deserve a 4 over #5 Alhambra(6-4) and #6 Petaluma(7-3). Petaluma with a last second lost to Analy should have recd the #4. #7 El Cerritto (5-5) no different than O'dowd with win over Oakland Tech and St Marys loss. You could argue EC wins over Salesian Pinole and Hercules all playoff teams-- are better wins than Castro Valley and Berkeley--both out and an OT win over D4 #12 Encinal for Odowd.

D4- Hard to argue top 4, maybe could say Moreau could go #3 over Fortuna(10-0) . #8 Fort Bragg also went 10-0 so why so much more love to Fortuna. What doesnt make sense is pitting FB against St Helena round 1 as well as #7 Justin Siena vs league foe #10 San Marin. If avoidable league opponents should not play in 1st round. would have been easy to switch SanMarin and St Helena. St Marys-Piedmont-Justin had to go in that order, Piedmont beat Justin, common opponent for Piedmont and StMarys was Moreau, Moreua handled StMarys, but blewout Piedmont. Easily could have gone 4-5-6 with Fortuna at 7 or 6-7-8 with Fort bragg at 5.

D5- Looks good, easier with less teams, seedings much more clear .

I agree with a lot of what you just said. The thing that stood out to me the most was in D2 with Granada at #4 over Tennyson at #5 for the same reasons you stated. With American at least they get a home game for being a league champ. I thought it was kind of funny that JFK-Fremont got the #10 seed in D3 at 4-6 when last year they got the #10 seed at 10-0. In D1 i'm looking forward to the Cal v. Logan and AV v. San Leandro games, great round one match ups. Congrats to Livermore Valley Charter making their 1st ever playoff appearance in the D5 bracket.

Anyone have the answer why D5 has some many first round bye's? Based on the other divisions it can't be due to loosing records....

Just not enough qualifiers or coaches opted out of playoffs.

mshNasty.. you are right about Kennedy, if they play same schedule as last year they go 8-2, kudos to them for stepping up and playing better schedule but in long run in didnt help them. Thats on NCS, last year they should not have been a #10, this year I see it, but makes you not want to schedule better teams if no benefit.

I would have put Moreau at 3,but an undefeated Fortunate got the nod based I think on beating Orland. Moreau played much tougher league schedule though.It will serve them well in the playoffs.But I can see Fortuna at 3,no argument there.

There are only 18 total D5 teams, so expecting close to 16 to qualify is tough. That said, Clear Lake, St. Vincent and CSD all were qualified and aren't there. Presume none of them applied for the playoffs.
