WCAL: A Final Glance

At a glance......SI is #1 in WCAL and rules over an entire CCS Kingdom!

......And we aren't going anywhere next year.

Anyone's preseason rankings with SI not #1 next year in the WCAL is clueless.
I think it is great for SI to get to the level they are at. I met Igor when he was 13 playing basketball at our local gym. He was a giant then and he is a giant now. I think his reputation alone will bring in some great linemen. And if a kid is a defensive linemen why not go. Don’t know what SI does opening the gates to athletes, but they have the facilities, obviously a damn good head coach and congrats to SI for doing a damn good job. Look forward to January 15th at Chase. Going to be a great alumni event for both schools.

Do they have a lot coming back? Their JV and frosh went 3-4 and 1-4. They have two linemen coming back who are impact I believe — are there others?

We have the best coach in the WCAL coming back.
The QB, LT, RB, and MLB are all 3 year varsity starters (I think there could be some others too), I wonder if another team in the CCS had the same experience at those key positions, maybe SF?

Clueless.😛🤪😳🫢

I think when the WCAL is seeing shifts in dominance, it is nice to see a City programs celebrating “True Improvement”,..it is shameful that some are celebrating because they are not in last place.

Ha! That’s just it. Its the coaching that matters.

Outside of our D1 Left Tackle John Mills going to Texas. Our QB is going to D3 Bowdoin College and our outside LB Daniel Leupold to D1 school Holy Cross.

Yeah, where the eff is Bowdoin College?

No one else is going anywhere except maybe Junior College.

Major returners for next year I think would be the coach’s son Isaia Vandermade (DL/OL), Zui Shelton (WR/DB), Tyran Hicks (DB/WR), Jonah Chavez (OL/DL), Steve Malone (RB), and Manoah Faupusa (DL/OL).

2023 SHC 0-10; left the WCAL; only WCAL school with no football titles.

What are you talking about? He just won the CIF CCS Open Division Championship.

.......is also about to win COY and did it in only his 2nd year.

Look past the fog of hate in your heart!

Coach Walsh got a state title and best team in nor cal tag 3 times with 3 open appearances

Sicp coach nice but he just beginning

That wasn't directed at you, Goat, but at that goofball who has to taunt and harass while typing like a crapping pigeon strutting on his keyboard.
And in case some idiot doesn't know, SHC didn't "leave the WCAL", they went independent in football from 1989 to 2007 and could have rejoined any time but waited until 2008 (which was far too long in my opinion) then continued in the WCAL by 2008 and won a CCS title. Irish are in the WCAL to stay. It's been 16 years.
Deal with it.

It’s not just coaching. Serra won four straight CCS championships from ‘19-‘23, but fell back this year. I think likely due to lack of explosive playmakers. Same coaches, different result. That’s why I was asking about players returning. And thank you for answering that — I appreciate it.

You think SI has explosive players?

SI has had a fantastic season. Congrats to coach V and his players.
Remember that there are many 3-year starters on this team from the previous regime. The lower levels were not as good as other programs so let's wait and see. On another note, I don't think anyone at Serra or maybe the WCAL would agree that you have the best coach. Great Season but far from being the best team in NorCal for 3 strait years.

Here's a question?

Would your Coach get the same results from these same 3 year starters running your system?

Well, I think the answer is yes.
You beat my Coach by 1 at home and He played with a Lacross player at QB.
I think he is 21 and 2 over his tenure. Should be fun watching them compete unless Lenny goes
to USC.

Coach Walsh definitely would…. I think that Coach V is a Great Coach, but Walsh has proven himself the Top Coach in the CCS and Nor Cal….

Just look at what he did this year with his worst team in years, He Beat SJS Powerhouse Folsom on the road….

Walsh is the only Coach in Nor Cal to hold Multiple wins over the 2 premier Programs in Nor Cal, DLS and Folsom….

Coach V is off to a good start, but he has a long way to go, let’s see if SI can make it to a SBG this year…. I am a big fan and I am pulling for him and SI!….

I’m gonna be honest here…if we’re talking about CCS Coach of the year, there is no way LenDawg deserves it over Mark Krail. Sorry. I don’t care if Los Gatos loses to St. Francis. It took S.I. two tries and a horrible call on 4th and Shmedium with the game on the line to even beat the Lancers so Krail is playing with house money here.

Furthermore, if you’re gonna point to what Lenny has done in the last two years you need to add “Loss to Los Gatos” to that list of accolades.

I’m pretty sure Krail’s winning percentage against The WCAL is better in the last two season’s than Lenny’s has ever been since arriving at SI….and that’s with Los Gatos kids, not Los Angeles kids.

Gotta agree on Krail. But his lament that we’re just a public school from a small community that grew up together is a bit tired. Interesting the top Bay Area public schools in football (LG, SRV Campo etc.) come from communities whose median homes cost $2M+. Pittsburg is the most impressive of all the public schools-small town, blue collar, racially diverse and a proud supportive community.
