Ron Bolin, the head hoops coach at Aragon High School in San Mateo for 18 seasons, ending in 1996-97, died in late June, according to his family. He was 81. At Aragon, he had several outstanding teams in the late 1980s and 1990s. They were known for a wide-open, free-flowing, high-scoring style that was in marked contrast to the half-court-oriented units that tended to dominate the Peninsula Athletic League back in the day. Aragon won the CCS Division III championship in 1990 and 1994 with overall records of 28-3 and 29-4 respectively. The Dons finished second in CCS Division III in 1989.
