I saw them at the Gridley Tournament and they're definitely better than Folsom. The size and the depth of their guards would cause problems...

Looks are deceiving. Watch every warmups with Folsom. We look like we are going to get smashed every game. Besides going with that logic, they are better than any team in CA. Its all about matchups and X-factors. Too bad Folsom vs Sac wont happen. Besides Sheldon looks amazing until they play Folsom because Folsom is the only team I've seen that slows Sheldon down.

Those Friedman rankings are the the most confusing rankings ever. There probably isn't a team in California outside of prolific prep that is top 5 in Country. But having Sac Hi #4 in Sac Bee is Comical.

Got to love rankings. Prolific plays #6 rated Memphis East this next weekend in Memphis. Just another opportunity to knock off a top 10 team and move up rankings. Currently 4-0 vs top 25 in country. Got to love our schedule!

Early season rankings are meaningless. For Pete's sake, Max Preps has Nevada Union as #6 in the state, 15 spots above Moreau Catholic. I am sure Nevada Union has a good team this season, but #6 in the state?

Actually I think NU is ranked too low (ha! ha!). We saw the rankings this morning and had a good laugh. We are ranked 21st in the country on the freeman rankings. It is way too early to worry about rankings. If we really are good then it will be apparent at the end of the season. Right now it means nothing at all other than we are playing well at the beginning of the season and have beat teams that have been beating us for the last two years.

DG lets not get carried away. Congratulations you won vs Sheldon but slow them down. Sheldon couldn't throw the ball in the ocean and still scored 78 points and had a 32 point 4th qtr. They shot themselves in the foot over and over and if not for a 3/4 court shot to end the qtr by Ford Sheldon still wins as bad as they played. Don't get me wrong Folsom is a good team and will be there in the end . Ford seems to find a way to make that happen. Thats his gift. Sheldon ran through Folsom all summer and it took laying an egg to have Folsom win 79-78

Freeman rankings are great, but only start to look accurate after all teams have played 10-15 games. Before that, they are not even close to reality.

On any given night Folsom, Sac High, and Sheldon could beat each other. Looks are very deceiving. Folsom guards are all about 6"1-6"2 but they can extend floor to 22 feet and have played at a high level together for a long time. They would be right there with Sac high. After watching Modesto Christian over at Jesuit I walked away really impressed. They are athletics, play tough, well coached, and have all the pieces. I know folsom beat them but if I'm a betting man they are going to make a deep playoff run.

Legend - could any of these Sac teams beat DLS or Moreau Catholic? My guess is all of these teams are evenly matched. All are very talented and all have great traditions.

Sheldon did not run through Folsom all summer. In the summer they turned a close game at halftime to a 12 point victory..Thats summer. In the fall Sheldon won by 1 or 2 in OT. Thats not running through anybody. My point was that every game Ive seen Sheldon in they got to play Sheldon ball which is fast paced, do what they want, high tempo ball. Against Folsom its always been Manning as main source of offense and Elijah going after the 1v1. Folsom was up 13 after 3 or 4 Sheldon turnovers in a row off of traps in the 3rd.Slow down, neutralize, whatever..I dont see the same Sheldon team.

Billybob- DLS is always going to be in every game. They play incredible defense and arguably harder than anybody . This year they are pretty long on the wings and at the HS level have enough size to beat anybody. Moreau is still the team to beat though. Knocking off Sierra Canyon was a big statement. I've never been a big Sac high fan. Not because I don't like their kids, but I've seen them lose to many games they should win with their talent. Just my opinion and maybe that has changed this year.

Well NU has fallen from 21 in the country to 27 and has yet to play a game this week so obviously the team must be falling apart. Maybe we need to get rid of our coach since he cannot maintain our ranking in the country. On a happier note we are now #5 in the state so maybe the coach should keep his job. In all seriousness we are having fun with this bizarre ranking episode. We do play South Medford (Oregon) in Red Bluff tonight and they are the #1 ranked 6A team in Oregon so if we are able to beat them it will be fun to see what the rankings do. If we lose I am sure we will plummet way down in the rankings cause South Medford is ranked 527 in the country and MaxPreps says that losing to a much lower ranked team hurts you more than losing to a higher ranked team.

Well Nevada Union went 2-1 at the Red Bluff Tournament this weekend. Lost to the #1 OSA ranked team in Oregon, South Medford, 54-51, beat Golden Valley from Merced 63-46 and beat the #3 OSA ranked team in Oregon, Oregon City, 44-42. We should drop a lot in the national rankings, do not know about the state rankings yet. Of course the rankings mean nothing right now but it is fun for us.
