Sorry, I decided to make a new, all-encompassing thread, as the other was about Michael Vick who is coaching elsewhere. :)

Moving along….

In the recent weeks since the announcement of the hiring of Coach Marion, the Hornets have been absolutely destroying it in the transfer portal. They’ve already officially signed at least 14 new transfers with dozens more committed either as HS recruits or portal transfers.

Well, while seemingly risky due to the checkered history, now Coach Marion has secured a commitment from a former 5 star from Alabama and Texas.

Another one…. Sac State is gonna end up being “Outcast U”. This could end up VERY GOOD or VERY BAD, but if nothing, should be entertaining.

I'm excited to see what Sac State does on the field next season—it sounds like they've recruited some great talent. From what I'm hearing, FCS programs might become the circuit for many of these athletes to audition for an FBS school. This could be a chance for the athletes to secure NIL deals by performing well. This platform might even surpass the "Last Chance U" junior college circuit in offering opportunities, especially considering the higher level of visibility and competition in the FCS, which can enhance athlete profiles and attract more lucrative NIL offers.

It’s funny how some of these younger/newer writers will believe just about anything.

While I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised at what Marion & Co have done in such a short period of time. And I’m rather bullish on the offseason haul the Hornets have made over the past 30 days. That stated, this article makes me laugh. Just the fact that this writer mentions Sac State and the Big Ten in the same sentence takes anyway any shred of legitimacy IMHO. That said, this article is another example that just goes to show - having your (schools) name out there matters. You never know who is gonna believe what’s said about you.

The author has revised the article at least once already. I saw it a day or two ago on X, and as he later alluded to in the update — he thought Sac State was part of the Bay Area. That right there tells you all you need to know.

I don’t recall him mentioning the B10 originally, but perhaps it’s because I didn’t read that far. I wouldn’t put it past him that he forgot which conference UCLA is in now and thought the Hornets could join the Bruins in the PAC-12. lol.

Also, more to your point, he seems to believe that SAC’s NIL is a yearly number rather than over a 10-year period.

Lots of ignorant, naive people out there with a platform to spew garbage. Many of them even employed by (allegedly) reputable news outlets.
