Week 8 (week record)

1. Mission (1-0) challenged but survived fast pace match v. 12-1 (now 2) Burton. No.1 Seed in playoffs.
2. Urban (2-0) Props to Blues for playing best ball at end of season. Proof in pudding.
3. St. Ignatius (0-2) wheels just fell off second half of season. Can rebound in less competitive CCS DII.
4. Lick Wilmerding (0-1) stellar season needed a signature win in semi-did not get it. Should survive NCS.
5. Riordan (1-1) by virtue of win over Irish (somebody had to win), will compete in watered-down DIII
6. SHC (0-2) same as Riordan; by virtue of loss to Riordan drops.
7. Burton (1-1). Gave Mission a game in hostile environment.
8. University (1-1) Close but no cigar. Pre season schedule should make them strong in NCS.
9 Stuart Hall (0-1) Finding tough to win must win games not stretch; trust will be competitive in NCS.
10. Gateway (2-0) Keep winning; stay in Top 10. Lincoln and Lowell on heals

A lot cleared up this week. Mission survives Burton 3 machines; hope to see both of these team play at Kezar in few weeks. Congrats to Urban Blues for playing strong and survive the competitive BCL West league season. WCAL City teams despite pedigree limp into CCS. With open division taking all the relatively good teams, watch for up to two of these two squads to make it to a respective CCS final. It is very possible that we can have a sub .500 team make it to State?. Do not like the PC CCS. If you don't have a .500 minimum overall record, you should not be able to advance.

BCL (2/24)
McKinnleyville at LW
Upper Lake v. Stuart Hall 5:00 p.m. at Kezar
Bay School v. Urban 6:30 at Kezar
South Fork v. Unversity 8:00 p.m. at Kezar

AAA
Mission at Washington
Lowell at Lincoln

WCAL/CCS
2/27 opponents to be determined

Have a good week.

Week 7 (week record)

1. Mission (2-0) wasn't challenged all week, big game determines fate this Friday.
2. Lick Wilmerding (2-0) riding high into playoffs. While WCAL foes beat up on each other, Lick sneaks by for week. Let's see if they can hold it.
3. SHC (1-1) beats up on VC losses by only 2 to St. Francis at St. Francis. Playing strong but is it too late.
4. St. Ignatius (1-1) beats up on VC loses to St. Francis by 11 at home. They are trending down v. SHC up.
5. Urban (1-1) One point lost v. LW keeps them steady
6. University (2-0) Have they righted the ship?
7. Burton (2-0) they just keep on winning and not against lower tier.
8. Stuart Hall (1-1) Convincing home loss to LW knocks em just a bit. But playoffs provides opportunity.
9. Riordan (0-2) Hard to keep them in considering losing streak; due to WCAL and best concession stand in State.
10. Gateway (2-0) Keep winning; stay in Top 10.

A great week of San Francisco basketball ahead. Mission playing for point in AAA game of year v. Burton at Mission. Lincoln and Washington clear up league playoffs with their game. LW awarded No. 2 spot based on tough games in their league and always coming out on top. SHC passes SI based on recent win and tough loss v. St. Francis at SF while at same time, SI struggled at home v SF. I do not like giving ties in ranking, but this one is close, but since SHC is trending up, they get the nod. The BCL gets settled this week once and for all. A good couple nights at Kezar. Should be a fun night at the Forum tonight when SHC plays Riordan. The Cats get to go to the Jungle in annually one of the most anticipated games of the season.

City games of the week:

WCAL: SHC@ Riordan
AAA: Burton@Mission; Lincoln@Wash
BCL Playoffs: Univ v SH; Urban v. LW

To all a good week.

Week 6 (week record)

1. Mission (2-0) takes over No. 1 spot for first time based on depth of squad and consistency.
2. St. Ignatius (1-1) lost to SHC and close home win v. Riordan. Based on how they've been tracking last two weeks, needed a strong week; did not get it.
3. L.W (2-0) Keeps on winning. They are convincing a few doubters.
4. SHC (1-1). Good win at home v. S.I. Close loss to Serra away. Modest up-swing. Still no post.
5. Urban (2-0) Big win v. University. They are getting everything out of their players.
6 University (1-1) Beat Stuart Hall; lost to Urban
7. Stuart Hall (1-1) Tough to drop them, but did lose to University. not convinced they'll settle for this spot.
8. Burton (1-0) Best Burton squad in years. 3 Happy with some help in the paint.
9. Riordan (0-2) Just cant win close games; losing Stansberry doesn't help.
10. Gateway (2-0) Keep winning; stay in Top 10.

Mission is just fun to watch with full squad: Fast, aggressive D and now a presence in middle. Tough to drop Cats but just running out of steam. Very young, well coached, still capable of a nice run but loss to SH; close win to a Stansberry-less Riordan. Things catching up to soph-heavy team and too much pressure on Emory to stop bleeding. I've given up on trying to figure out BCL; so competitive this year.

City games of the week:

WCAL: St. Francis@SI; Mitty@Riordan
AAA: Burton@Balboa
BCL: Urban@LW

Have a good week.

Week 5 (week record)

1. St. Ignatius (0-2) loss at home to Serra and away v. a Kone-less Mitty. Is youth catching up?
2. Mission (3-0). Full squad playing best ball in City at moment. Poised for jump.
3. Stuart Hall (2-1). Big wins over LW and Urban. Tight loss to St. Josephs. Getting better.
4. L.W. (1-1) Big win on road v. University; but lost to hot Stuart Hall. will they be healthy at playoffs?
5. SHC (1-1) Beat Riordan at home; 2 pt loss to Bellarmine on road. Still an enigma.
6. University (1-1) loss at home to LW drops them.
7. Urban (1-0). Loss to Stuart Hall; big game v. University pending.
8. Riordan (1-1) loss to SHC; loss to University and inability to win close games still neutralizing their rankings.
9. Burton (3-0) loss to Mission last week does not deter this group. They are a 3 happy team.
10.Gateway (2-0). They keep winning games on their schedule.

SI but virtue of 20+ win over Mission at Sand Dune, still hanging on. However, trending down while Mission now at full squad; may see a shift if trend continues. The BCL is so competitive this year hard to knock a team in either direction. SHC win over Riordan nudges them above Crusdaers. Riordan has not won a close game in long time; a good week will change this. Other than Mission and Burton, AAA beating up on itself.

City games of the week:

WCAL: Serra@Riordan; Riordan@SI; SI@SHC;
AAA: Lincoln@Mission
BCL: University@Urban; Stuart Hall@University.

Have a good week.

Previous Rankings
Week 4 (week record)

1. St. Ignatius(1-1) loss on road at St. Francis not surprising. A home win v. Serra would steady ship.
2. Mission (2-0). Match Burton 3's and crowd and found some badly needed post presence.
3. University- (2-0) Did'n't help or hurt themselves this week. Devil's Den awaits rematch with LW.
4. Riordan (0-3). At some point, team has to learn to win a close game. Injuries exposing lack of depth.
5. L.W. (2-1) Humbled v. Urban; this week does not get much better. Tittering at 5.
6.Stuart Hall(0-0) Good week off. will it pay dividends in tough matches v. Urban and L.W.
7. Urban (2-0). Big win over L.W. Poised to make a bigger jump by end of week.
8. SHC (1-2) Hollins 50 impressive (even v. V.C), AAU ball meets the WCAL
9. Burton (1-1) depth was their demise v. Mission. Will see if week provides a let-down game.
10.Lincoln (1-0). Solid win at home v. a Washington team on a roll.

One and two are solid; 3-10 will be cleared up by end of week. Cant knock Cats for away lost at St. Francis (even a tough game when SF not good). Riordan injuries catching up to them. SHC just imploding. Riordan/SHC game will say a lot about both teams. BCL the most competitive environment this year. Hard to say who will end up on top. The AAA is Mission's to lose and whats important to the other teams is...they can.

City games of the week:

WCAL: Riordan@SHC; Serra at S.I.
AAA: Lincoln@Lowell; Lowell@Mission; Washington@Mission; Burton@Washington;
BCL: LW@University; SH@LW; Urban@SH

Have a good week.

Week 3 (week record)

1. St. Ignatius(2-0) great games v. City WCAL teams Getting stronger.
2. Mission (4-0). First week with full squad and showing it.
3. Riordan (0-2). Tough lost at Serra; tough home loss to S.I.
4. L.W. (3-0) Suspect 17-1 record gets boost with win over Univ.
5. University-Virtue of win over Riordan/strong preseason keeping them up.
6. Burton (2-1) surprise team got brought back to earth by SM Berkeley.
7. SHC (0-2) great effort v. SI; fell flat to Serra at home. One dimentional.
8.Stuart Hall(2-0) Good win v. Urban; moves up 1
9.Wahington (2-0) Exciting win and now at full squad.
10. Lowell (1-1) coming down to earth.

A lot cleared up as predicted after week 2. S.I. solidified No. 1 ranking with two hard fought WCAL games. Mission now at full strength can only beat themselves in league. Riordan only dropping one space due to tough road loss to Serra. SHC one dimensional; need to prove their talent can put four quarters together. LW finally take University on ultimate neutral court. Burton discipline turning heads. Washington making most of talent.

Game of week in BCL Lick Wilmerding@Urban.
Games of week in AAA, Mission @Burton.
Games of week in WCAL S.I. at St. Francis Riordan@Mitty; SHC@St. Francis;

Plenty of City rivalry games this week; A good week to get out and watch City Basketball.
