Good to see those two returning ...

And though I have no idea of the circumstances for these two young women, it is sometimes the case, if not often, that players get seduced by the thought of playing in the Pac-12 or another Power 5 conference, and later find themselves as roster filler. Basically, coaches will protect themselves by making sure they have one post, say, even if they don't think she'll be a star. And of course, they immediaately begin recruiting over her, hoping to get someone better.

The key for a positive basketball experience is usually to be one of the two or three best players on a particular team, a player the coach builds around rather than tries to replace. That means, of course, not listening to the coach's sales pitch and having a realistic view of your own talent level.

I hope SCU can build themselves to what they haven't been since horstmeyer left. I have talked to coach carr and he seems like a pretty intelligent guy and he has surrounded himself with people who know the recruiting landscape. Looks like SCU, as well as SMC, have committed to recruiting locally. Good things happening

I don't know anything about Holloway's situation, I know with Fatuesi that she injured her knee, then they had a coaching change, with UOP's Lynne Roberts taking over. And her move could be completely non basketball related - Utah is a big cultural shift from the Bay Area.

I know nothing about either situation -- hope it works out for the best.

Utah is a big cultural shift from the Bay Area.

not doubting that utah is very different from the bay area.. but I do know there is a huge polynesian community. I want to say like 1 in 4 tongans in the US live in Utah. I know nothing of Joeseta's feelings or personal experience, but one could assume the culture would not put her out of place. Injury and playing for a coach that coached her in 7th grade might be bigger factors. Again these are assumptions, I have know knowledge of the situation

Josetta and Charise were both recruited by different coaching staff when they committed. New staff comes in and would like to take their program in different direction then the past regime. Current staff at both Utah and Arizona are eager to bring in their own players. Happens all the time. Both players will be rock-stars at Santa Clara.
