Good game, Notre Dame hasn't been able to stop the Padre offense. Serra gets the ball to open the 2nd half. ND has broken a few long runs, but hasn't really sustained long drives.

Serra now leads 35-17 and fumbles at the ND 1.

I will say this, though... the Padres may be benefiting from a little home cooking with the refs. Hard to say when there isn't a national-tv type camera crew whether or not all of the calls are legit, but they have received far fewer penalties (particularly in key situations) than the Golden Knights.

Serra gives up way too many big plays. I see Bellarmine beating the Padres pretty comfortably.

Padres fumbled at the ND 1, so instead of being up 42-17, it's 35-23. Now, they've fumbled the subsequent kickoff. ND ball at the Serra 29.

Padres hold on for the win. I see them competing with VC, SF, and Mitty for somewhere between 2nd and 4th in the WCAL.

I tuned in late so I didn't see all the calls that favored Serra. What I did see was a possible rout about to take place in the 3rd quarter that due to Serra miscues allowed ND back into the game & almost cost Serra. From late 3rd quarter watching on my Iphone I counted at least 3 Serra fumbles.

Yep, the fumble bug returned. They passed a whole lot better this week than last, but they can't keep turning the ball over like that. Only one of the fumbles was even forced.

By no means are Bells a lock to take WCAL. They're the favorite coming in, but we'll see...

Serra is loaded with speed and talent. Athletes who can make plays abound. If the Padres can solve the center snap issue, not to mention punting, they can prosper bigtime the rest of the way. That might be a big if, however.

Congrats to Serra. As expected, the Pdres had a physical and team speed advantage. Those TO's continue to hurt Serra and prevent them from realizing their full potential. They almost gave it away. The Padres are really tough kids tho. Solid win. Too bad we won't get to see this team in the playoffs.

The BBQ lunch options were MIA at Serra on Saturday. There may be a reason why. The booster club didn't want to lose any more cash feeding Coach Walsh's linemen. In particular, it seems very clear that Walsh's mammoth starting twosome at DL has never missed a meal. This pair totals close to 700 pounds of sashaying suet. Moving them even a few feet is a challenge worthy of a tractor pull. They don't see the field on obvious passing downs. And one of these twin tanks is a sophomore. There is also a 300-pound frosh lineman who will be brought up to the varsity as quickly as possible. Hide the buffet on West 20th Avenue.

Serra has a nice team. Lots of quality skill players. I love the DT's. Elusive QB who can run the offense. Solid line. They're a pretty good team and fun to watch. Oh, their stream is quality and actually works. They got it monetized with commercials, subliminal pop ups, the whole 9. Serra has the number 1 stream and DLS is number 2. So Serra beat DLS at something in football!

Yes, great stream, it is clear and a great PR team....They got a loyal fan base in San Mateo. I live there so I get constant flyers...:) It is a nice school, but if you are from the city originally, you know how we feel about them...lol. Colhenry, hilarious comments about the big lineman.

Agree with your comments about being from the City. Oldest just graduated from Riordan and have 2 more to go. Next one up brought up Serra the other day. I cringed ;)

Add Mary Beth Ortiz to that abstention

Lol! Good stuff. My kids go to SHS (the grammar school on the same campus as SHP). 2 other Riordan alumni and I skipped out of the booster reception and enjoyed the victory over drinks in Palo Alto after the game...Toasting to the City boys from Phelan Ave.
