Serra vs. Riordan

In recent years, Serra has been the clear favorite vs. the Crusaders. Not so in 2015. Riordan is unbeaten, all on the road. All of their wins have been one-sided. They are on an impressive roll, unlike anything seen on Phelan Avenue in some time. Serra is 2-2. The losses have been to a pair of perennial papal powerhouses, DLS and Bellarmine. The Saturday match at CCSF will be the 66th time these two all-boys schools have met in varsity football since 1951. Serra leads the series 37-28. By all rights, Riordan should be a slight favorite in this one. All of the momentum is on their side. We'll see.

Col Henry took a lot of flack for saying Serra was not the favorite in this one. But with the Crusaders up 24 in the 3rd quarter, they have backed him up thus far. Would be a huge victory for Riordan if they can hold on.

A brief final summation: Riordan, too many weapons, too many gifted opportunities; Serra, too many self-inflicted wounds, too many wasted opportunities. Kudos to the victors. On to Bellarmine, with or without Martig at QB.

Who would have believed - Riordan blow the doors off of Serra. It was a total slug fest - with the FIRST QUARTER score of 32-29 AR.
