After 14 minutes, it's Serra 35, SI 0. Ouch. And at the half, it's Serra 56, SI 0. What in the name of Vince Tringali is going on out there in Jesuit country?

Yes, it's been a down season, but who among the Crusader or Irish fans wouldn't trade SI's football accomplishments over the last 5 seasons for ONE down year:

2 CCS Championships
4 CCS Title Game Appearances
9-2 over the other city teams
Beat every other WCAL team, except Serra, at least once (being a Baseball guy, I'll take last season's two 1-0 victories over Serra as a consolation!)

As a City Sports Fan, I'm all in for Riordan going to a State Bowl Game this year, but the Riordan Senior Class is a special class of athletes and Coach Fordon has his work cut out for him to come close to what Coach Regalia and the WildCats have accomplished over the prior 4 years. No doubt, more football oriented kids will migrate to Riordan based on this year's success.

SI's challenge will be getting enough of their nationally ranked Lacrosse Players to play football and to develop/recruit some size (Serra had more 300+ lb. players on roster than SI had 200+ lb. players last week). SI will continue to send their football athletes to highly selective D-1 and D-3 programs (e.g., Brown, Tufts, Amherst, etc.).

It is definitely Riordan's year and SI's reset year (they only had 13 seniors on the roster vs. 25 last year). I'm looking for the City games to get more competitive in the years to come.

Oh Yeah - to preempt Irish Cheers - the SI Frosh and JV SPLIT with the Irish this year.......

You forgot something: NOBODY LIKES S.I.... (Although I did give them credit for beating Serra in baseball).

RE: "No doubt, more football oriented kids will migrate to Riordan based on this year's success." (Joke of the week).

Don't count on it, kitty cat. Riordan's lower levels won a total of 1 game. Their frosh are giving up close to 60ppg with 1/3 of the players quitting. Who wants to play for a doormat program like that? SI is also on the downturn and SHC on the other hand is improving with even more good players on the way next season. In the past two frosh campaigns, the Irish beat Valley, Mitty, SI twice, Riordan twice and St. Francis twice. We'll see the results of their labor in the coming seasons. Naturally, all the Riordan posters will suddenly pull for the Irish come playoff time... right?

As for your "Hahahaha" business, I should expect that from little, ignorant Fool-bo types. I'll send you some salt for your crow too as the cats and rabbits battle for the cellar.

SHC is improving? You delusional morons live in a fantasy world. SHC is in such a sorry state football wise it's beyond bad luck or lack of talent etc etc. SEVEN YEARS not beating a non-San Francisco WCAL team! A 21 soon to be 22 game losing streak over FOUR seasons. Lower Level bragging rights are for LOSERS.

Yes. That is with SHC's top seven sophmores on varsity. How many sophomore on Varsity at SI? 0!

How is that different from year's past? SI rarely brings up Sophomores to Varsity.

Last year (2014) was the exception when they brought up 4 or 5 Sophomores. If anything, that confirms my belief that this year was an aberration - the 2016 class didn't have the athletes that the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017 had or have.

My bet is for the trend to continue.....

Can't really bash SI based on their Varsity record/accomplishments over the past decade. Don't really understand the Bluford situation, and Riordan caught them right in the middle of it that season, but the 'Cats have done well since.
As 1DNA stated, I, personally, am enjoying this season as it is nice to finally beat some peninsula/south bay WCAL schools. Lol! Not too many WCAL teams have ever put up the numbers seen this year in league play... Similar to the 2007 CCS title team where they beat the City schools and Serra, but took their lumps from Mitty, Bellarmine and VC and then rolled through blowout wins in CCS. Difference from the Langridge era and now - coaches are full-time faculty / staff at the school. Better having a solid foundation / support and being competitive in league - year in and year out. My logo says it all - I may trade barbs with my fellow posters but I'm all about pulling for a City school when they are doing well. It is better for the entire league to have competition up and down the schedule.

Rik...It will be interesting...word is out of the 2019 class at least 4 will be playing SHC varsity football next year as well. So something to build on for sure.

Shame, Shame on you SHC posters,

I hear you cry foul when the Crusader fan base calls you on the carpet for a "Outright lack of preparedness" in the Crusader beat down at Tiger Stadium last weekend. It seems that SI has been the consistent "Kings of Kezar" (City Champs) for the last decade in SF HS prep Football.

Not only has the roster numbers been solid over the recent decline in SF preps, they actually put a fight against the phenomenal Crusaders this year.

As we think of "Fight or Flight" as a program, SI has truly demonstrated FIGHT as SHC has own FLIGHT....

So Shame on SHC poster who want to come on here and try to point out SI for a cyclic year....

Mean what you say and say what you mean

I don't know why The Cherries of the Sunset are suddenly being thrown under the bus...They've seen even worse years in the distant past (ie. post Ray Calcagno --> Mike Pena).

I've always had high regards for the 'Cats...they're like that story of the little train that could. Surprises me each year when they make through CCS.

All depends on what the parents want too...2-3 lineman and maybe one skill position my source says...all talk not facts for sure. We will see..

I'm sure Josh Miles and Levar Watkins will be two of the skill players. Miles is a good power back. He'll carry tacklers with him. Watkins has plenty of speed. Noah Nash and another big lineman will make an impact too. Too bad the rosters don't list height & weight for some reason.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. SI is 5-15 over the last three years in the WCAL. It's not really one down year...it's becoming the norm.

The reason this is a discussion point, with Riordan doing so well and at one point actually challenging for the WCAL brass ring.

The challenge SI has is my perceived commitment to sports. They have never recovered from the firing of Buford.

I actually think Karma is hitting them now....

Please remind me of the last City football team to be in four consecutive CCS Championship games (winning two of them)?

SI was within 8 points of being 5-2 last year in WCAL. In addition they beat MC, Terra Nova and St. Marys (all of whom wound up in their sectional championship games). While Riordan's 4-3 league record is more impressive this year, my unanswered question was "what Crusader or Irish fan wouldn't trade ONE down year for SI's success in the prior four seasons?"

Good luck to the Crusaders in CCS.

Cats will be back in 2016.

Lower-level CCS playoffs aren't really relevant in my opinion, especially for WCAL schools. The competition level is not the same. SI won the Open one year, which was obviously very good, but it has been in a steep decline since then.

I have to admire yuu @iirishcheers for coming back each week to post, but your recent posts regarding Riordans freshman team truly show you are full of it! I will say it one last time, the issue with the freshman team isn't talent, it is coaching. Also 4 freshman played JV this year and several other athletic freshman opted to not play football this year, but will next. You will recognize them by the ones kicking Irish butt in other sports this year. Oh yeah, those freshman you have been dogging this year, they will win because they have talent too.
So you and rest of the idiots from SH who dogged the freshman, you have no idea of what you are stating.

You're delusional.... It's obvious you haven't watched any Riordan frosh games this year. Every team Riordan played could have scored 80 on them. With 1/3 of the team quitting, they're also demoralized. How you can spin anything positive out of that is beyond me. The two teams before that were 1-8 each, including the 2011 team that scored ZERO points on the season. Who wants to play for a team like that?

As for "Cats coming back in 2016" they'll be battling the Rabbits for a winless season.

No. Didn't get a chance to see any Frosh games, but saw the Irish Varsity.

Not sure many make as much an effort as Mel Kiper Jr, I mean Irish Cheers to see frosh games. No one cares till theyre at the Varsity Level. Frosh success doesnt automatically translate into Varsity success. The Masoli led 2013 Riordan team is a prime example who had Freshman success but nothing corresponded to success as Seniors. As stated, coaching DOES matter...

It is officially noted that SHC posters have no voice 48 hours post their "perfect season of WCAL losses". When your best is a Seller Dweller, you lower classes have no where to go....

Have they peaked at Freshman...it would seem so. "Say it ain't so"...

It's "Cellar", genius, and the only reason I'm correcting you is that the new doormat will have "Riordan" on it. Fool-bo can sweep it every year for the next bunch of losers from Phelan Avenue.

As for this business about rooting for WCAL schools post-league play, I won't believe that if I see it considering your constant cheap shots and the low-class drivel you keep pecking in your tablet.

UPDATE: Sacred Heart Cathedral California State 4A Football Champs. Dec. 11, 2021.

The SHCP football program has their name deeply embossed on that mat. Three plus seasons of ZERO league wins. SEVEN years without beating one WCAL team outside of San Francisco. Having to drop out of the league due to massive beat downs. It's going to take a lot of time and wins to get that name removed.

I recall plenty of people here going on about Riordan's Frosh team when they went 7-2 a while ago... Also, it takes more than just one good team and none other by the time they reach varsity and show positive results at that level. SHC has had two 6-3 Frosh squads in a row with more talent on the way. So people do care. Do you really not care about Riordan's frosh team having 12 players quit and giving up at least 55ppg? Anybody they played could have scored 80 on them. Even lowly SI. They were quite literally the worst team I have ever seen.

Sellar was a "test question" to properly identify that SHC posters who bad mouth their players for course work actually know the difference....

Now "Go" back during the post season and "tutor thy own'

Sometimes it is better to just leave it alone...Silence is powerful, didn't anyone teach that at SHC.

"Swag" with production is called pathetic...

Lol coming from a person who has supported clearly the worst football program in the City. Your losing credibility IC. ;)

Nope. Didn't support this team.

Riordan's records since 2008:

2008: 1-8-1
2009: 1-9
2010: 1-9
2011: 1-9
2012: 3-8
2013: 3-7
2014: 1-9

2016: 0-10
2017: 0-10
2018: 0-10

Riordan has as many league wins this year as SH has had in the last six years combined. SHCP has a 22 game WCAL LOSING STREAK!!!!!! They haven't beat a WCAL team outside of SF in 7 YEARS!!!!!! Go stand in the middle of the always empty bleachers in your big box costco style gym and slam your shillelagh into your head till basketball starts.

You are losing your credibility. Your education shows. Good for Riordan for the one year class they bought. Congrats. Enjoy your one year of success. But as we see, there was not much before and after. Ever wonder why that happened?

SHC seniors and juniors did not win a WCAL game their freshman year. Seniors had some talent, but had some bad luck injuries both their freshman year and this year.

SHC is feeling the end of the Lee program this year on the upper level and the tide will turn.

LOL at you dude. Make all the fun you want. But Coach P has the program turning around on the bottom end. Can't say that for Riordan. Have to laugh at Rabbit with all the excuses he makes. I don't think I have seen a freshman team get crushed as much as Riordan two years in a row. (But there is a lot of talent there - LOL!)

Your horrible grammar and spelling is the least of your problems. Listen, if it wasn't for Riordan's "smart" international students who sacrifice a kidney and a spleen attending a San Francisco school, I dare say the school would be closed. So dropping out of the WCAL for football temporarily is one thing, but keeping kids locked up because they don't like mommy/daddy or home is another. Look up Niche and see where Riordan ranks as an academic institution. There should be no comment after this from the peanut gallery.
