With a combined record of 26-4 the best league in NorCal is a grinder! Each game will be a blast to watch with great players and coaches. The football quality is top notch. Would love to get thoughts and predictions on the opening league games. Let’s roll!

Folsom @ Oak Ridge
Granite Bay @ Del Oro
Rocklin @ Whitney

Insane first Round. I would love to be at the GB vs DO game but I will be planted at Oak Ridge.

Folsom @ Oak Ridge - Folsom by 2 scores
Granite Bay @ Del Oro - DO by a TD
Rocklin @ Whitney - Rocklin in a close one

Oak Ridge hasn't played ANYONE WITH A PULSE yet.

Oak Ridge purposefully BACKED OUT of a game against Bellarmine to take on Chico to stat pad.

Oak Ridge will get SMOKED next week.

They're good teams, but Folsom's non league opponents were much tougher.( Serra, Pitt, DLS)
For sure. I would agree.

I took more issues with something, that was for weird reason, has barely been mentioned on here. Oak Ridge willingly canceled a game against the WCALs Bellarmine, to schedule Pleasant Valley at home.

They did that, which is their own prerogative, but there is one poster on here who has been chest thumping all year about how great they are. Rude awakening coming on Friday.

Personally, I think Folsom is two TDs better than the next closest SFL opponent. But league familiarity can close that gap a little bit on any given Friday night

I agree.

There was some insinuation from some posters that because the Folsom games against Pitt and DLS (away games) were close, that Folsom was going to get beaten badly in league. This was a bit head scratching.

Home team in the SFL this season may play a key role. If Folsom was hosting OR, I’d call a 2-3 TD win for the Bulldogs. This Friday at OR, could be much closer.

Very possible.

However, this is the first test for OR all year. I think their schedule kicks them in the butt this week.

BIGGGGGGGGGGG difference between Pleasant Valley and Folsom. BIGGGGGGGGGGGG

Oak Ridge “is” a very good football team. It’s like when bama and Clemson beat the crap out of there non conference opponents. OR has done the exact same thing. I’m not happy with there schedule but don’t penalize them by suggesting that they aren’t good. Good teams dominate weaker opponents. That is what they have done. Let’s see how the cards lie on Friday. I can tell you one thing. OR line and offense is better then De la salle.

Oh I bet. I am sure you can tell just by watching them beat on on Pleasant Valley from Chico and the rest of the doughnuts they've played.

It is VERY telling that they canceled a game with Bellarmine. I knew they were going to get pounded by Folsom the second I heard that.

And if Folsom’s weakness is their line play, this game could be a challenge for the mighty Bulldogs. Isn’t OR’s defense one of its best in some time? That in mind, I might be picking OR in my pick’ems this week.

Yet, last year, Folsom dominated OR 54-7 in varsity play and 48-7 in JV play. What magical spell has occurred to the OR Trojans to move the needle to turn this towards their favor? Are there new transfer students on the line? Maybe a bunch of sophomores on Varsity last year that did not see much playing time last year or have grown during the off-season, as has been somewhat the case for the young St. Mary’s squad. Even the year before Folsom’s JV won handily 48-14.

Agree! OR and other good teams will dominate teams that are not as good. But, going up against a team of possibly higher caliber would reverse the outcomes. Based on history (last couple of years), the higher caliber has been on Folsom’s side at both JV and Varsity. And, as unfortunately having to agree with the Pasty one, it hasn’t been even close. As a result, I have a hard time picking OR over Folsom, a very hard time. However, miracles can and do happen sometimes. Therefore, I’m going to go on a limb and pick OR over Folsom as my 1 pointer this week. I failed in picking DLS over Folsom as my 1 pointer, but my my it was close. Almost pulled it off. I’ll pray harder this time, Larry, and maybe maybe this time our prayers will be answered. 😉

Folsom by 2-3 scores. First half could be close. There is no doubt in my mind OR probably started preparing for Folsom last week. However too many weapons for Folsom. That OR run game will look slow compared to what they just saw vs DLS. The only chance in my mind is to win the Special teams/Turnover battle. Can OR force a few turnovers and score on a short field? In the end Folsom’s strength of schedule proves to be the major difference. Could be a blowout.

DO over GB in a shootout. Can DO stop GB in the early downs and force them to throw? Can GB keep DO QB in the pocket and not allow him to extend plays? Hell of a matchup. Think GBs pass defense will struggle.

Rocklin over Whitney by 2TDs. Key to this game will be Rocklins QB roberts. Can he complete the passes he needs to vs a loaded box? Can Whitney move the ball against Rocklin’s defense? This one could be tight. In the end I think Rocklin D is too much for Whitney.

Coaching. Taylor’s first real year at the thrown with his own hand picked guys. New systems and kids have bought in. I wouldn’t look at prior scores. I mean OR was pretty terrible last year and lost to GB by 1 and GB beats Folsom by 10. Certainly OR needs to have a few bounces there way to pull off upset. We shall see soon enough.

I think Rocklin is poised to have a good game with Robert's. It's no secret that Whitney will sell out to stop the run. The pressure is on joey to play up to his ability. I personally think he will catch Whitney to the tune of for 2-3 passing touchdowns and lead his team to 5-1 start.

I find this an interesting POV considering how Folsom played last season against their SFL rivals when Tremaine was out.

To me, their offensive doesn’t look all that much better with Mack at QB than it did last season. While Rocklin is down, Oak Ridge and Del Oro seemingly are up. Even Granite Bay looks fairly formidable and they beat Folsom last season.

I see 2 TD’s as overly optimistic. But we’re gonna find out soon enough.

Rocklin clobbered Folsom 40-7 last season and got dominated on the LOS. Several weeks later a “magical spell” occurred and they flipped the script. Same thing happened between Folsom and DLS.

There are countless examples of the same happening during the same season, let alone a season later.

C’mon bulldog — you of all people should know that’s a counterfeited argument.

Folsom may indeed beat OR this week, but last season’s results will have nothing to do with it nor prevent the Trojans from playing a competitive game.

Shhhhhh … I’m trying to get my competitors in the weekly pick’ems to pick Folsom as their 10 pointer, so when the upset happens (and maybe it doesn’t), my 1 point pick of OR winning turns out in my favor (similar to how many picked Central Catholic big-time to beat St. Mary’s-Stockton earlier this season, SM was my 1 pointer … hint: CC varsity and JV beat SM last year). But, now my secret is out and I probably just jinxed my picks. Lol.

News flash.

Oak Ridge, Rocklin, and Del Oro are NOT beating Folsom.

Haven't you guys learned this hard lesson over the past decade?

I wouldn't be talking. Your squad just played a D6 team in the middle of no where Santa Rosanita!
I already shared my team is young and overrated. Low expectations this season. Not being the cocky one here. Zero appetite for any flavor of CROW, which you seem to love. Learned how bad crow tastes in 2009 when the Rams fell to Del Oro in the playoffs. But, continue talking and we will continue to serve you more and more CROW. Guess you either love it or hate it. You seem to love it! Btw, don’t forget to add Folsom as your 10 pointer. Thank you!

Bulldogmgc is probably the best example of someone who was all in for their team and came back to eat the crow in 2009. That was a brutal end to the year for SMS

Folsom has lost 7 Times in the last 3 years…. Including losing to a San Diego Team….

No one in The SFL is afraid of Folsom anymore…. Folsom is Certainly Beatable by Oak Ridge on the Road…. Should be a Heck of a Game!!….

Folsom has barely lost any league games in 10 years and has FOUR state titles, to include 3 wins over SD teams :)

SFL teams still believe the myth. The hype is real. The inferiority complex is still very real.

No, Twice in 1 year Silly, playing with the same QB…. What happened 10 years ago is not Relevant today….
The gap is as narrow as I can recall. Folsom’s offense was always something I feared. I mean they would hang 40 on you in qtr if you weren’t awake. Can’t recall last time Oak Ridge comes in with an offense that clicks more. The issue with this years Folsom team is the QB is not a threat with his legs. That kills a Folsom team. Folsom QB has a great arm and with time is deadly but he’s not like the dynamic guys they’ve had before.

And in many ways Folsom is like DLS. Nobody is afraid of a team that went 4-2 in league last year. It’s the same as DLS now. The mystique has worn off.

Yeah…. Folsom was 4-2 with Walker Lyons, Rico Flores and The same QB…. It wasn’t until The mobile QB came back that Folsom made their run….

And Even then, Folsom was almost beat by Jesuit in the playoffs…. Right now the Top teams in Nor Cal couldn’t be closer and OR can throw their hat in the ring this weekend for that discussion…..

Folsom is 2-0 against DLS in the last two years, both in Concord. :) Folsim is the King of Concord!

Folsom was down with a back up QB for a bit last year. The best revenge was on Rocklin in the playoffs. I've NEVER EVER seen a team physically beaten up as bad as Rocklin was in that playoff game. The Rocklin sideline wen't absolutely bonkers. You should have seen the parents. It was BADDD! :)

Rocco's Pizza sucks.
