Sheldon’s Revenge attempt v. Cosumnes Oaks

I managed to get myself free for the roadie to Sheldon to see what they do with their chance to exact revenge on Cosumnes Oaks, the only NorCal team to beat the Huskies this season...

I was there for the surprise loss, and have an idea the Huskies are gonna make ‘em pay.

Right now, the Huskies’ frosh team is leading by 8 with 3:10 left, looking like they’re on the way to avenging their own 67-55 loss to the Wolfpack.

Whoa... three quick 3-bombs later, it’s 50-49 Huskies, hanging on for dear life with 1:10 left.

Huskies held on to win it 53-49... Cosumnes actually had an open 3-ball to tie it with 17 seconds left... It bounces twice on the rim before falling out.

Huskies’ undefeated JV team hits the floor next. Not too many reasons to believe CO has any sort of real shot here. Huskies won 70-48 last time.

Here’s something you don’t see every day... A JV team breaking the century mark! Final score: Huskies 105, Wolfpack 68. Not sure I’ve *ever* seen that, as a matter of fact...

A little surprising... Just a few minutes til game time, Senior Night, 7 seniors as a matter of fact... And the gym isn’t full. Crowded, but not full.

FYI, Bagley is in street clothes... I saw him earlier, moving easily across the bleachers sans boot... Thought mayyyybe he’d get out there for at least a little run on Senior night... But nope.

With or without the big guy, tho... Sheldon is terrific, and exciting as hell.

Xavier Brown, nother short J... 4-0, but Pack scores, foul on Xavion. 4-3 after FT.

Xavion inbound pass beats a sleepng Pack D... Fisher for 2.

Xavion just hung in the air for a week to let D fly past... and dropped the jelly. 14-8 Huskies.

Sweet move by Pack #1 for a layup... Xavier scores right back. 16-10.

Hewitt sinks a Husky 3... 19-10.then steals and lays it up! 21-10. Williams steals and dunks! 23-10.

Pack #1 sank a layup, yelled at ref, and got a T. Split FT’s, 24-12. Aaaaand. That’s the quarter. Impressive!

All CO can manage to do is get contested corner 3’s off... and they ain’t fallin’.

Huskies spilt four FT’s on two trips... 28-12.

Xavion fouled on a driving shot, FT’s go. 30-12.

CO wants to rev up the bus at halftime, I’d say... 4:30 left in the 2nd.

TREMENDOUS run-im-down swat by Williams... BUT he fouled... and there’s a T. Dunno who the T was on. BUt the Wolfpack player fouled got a rise outa the crowd by bricking both FT’s... Then the guy shooting the T shots makes one of ‘em. 30-13 after all that.

Hewitt nails a 3... 33-13.

Foul on Huskies, guy misses front end... and Xavier Brown scores inside! 35-13...

39-15 now after a fast exchange... Huskies on the prowl!

Hewitt with a pretty reverse layup... Pack the same. 41-17.

Another T dealt out... Awful intense in here for a blowout! Oh, a double T.

Wolfpack *finally* makes an outside shot... right at the buzzer. 42-20 at the half.

I’ll help you out. No one in NorCal will beat a full strength Sheldon. They are clearly the best team. That said, the best team frequently loses. Anything can happen in high school.

I hate to have to say this, but I agree that Campo would have a ton of trouble with Sheldon if they're at full strength...

However, I'd be surprised if Xavion gets on the floor again for Sheldon after tonight's horrific-looking knee injury. Another wild card is Bagley... Will he be back, and if so, anywhere near 100%?

But even if I were to bet on an even point spread featuring Campo v Sheldon minus both Xavion AND Bagley, I'd still have to bet Huskies, tho it'd likely be a tough battle. Sheldon favored by 5, I'd bet my Cougars

One of SRV’s top players Scott went down painfully vs Dougherty the other night, and is out for the year with an ACL.

Sheldon’s game at Jesuit will be interesting tomorrow... Assuming Xavion is out (I’d be super amazed if he isn’t), another top guard picked up 2 T’s last night, and my guess is he’ll have to sit this one out.

If so, the Huskies are suddenly thin at guard while having to take on Isa Silva, who would like nothing better than to avenge what was probably his worst game of the season last time they played Sheldon.
