Great early season matchup tonight at sheldon. 2 guard oriented teams battling it out. I'm at a tossup… I think either team can beat each other on any given night. I think we see better defense in this one and score stays in the 50's. I'm going 58-55 Folsom. If I make it out I will provide updates.

Yeah its a tough one to call. I could see it going either way but there is only one Jordan Ford!!
wow! I'm bummed I couldn't make it out.. I"m still sort of transitioning from the football field. I love Ford's game. Randy Bennett got a steal! I was surprised about the high score. Both teams are the real deal.
Do you mean Mason Forbes? My kids go to the camp that Wall puts on and they know most of these guys. Good kid and only a soph. I think he's about 6"6 now. A lot of upside for him. He's a true wing player.

Yes, the Forbes kid hit the 2 big ft's vs MC and had a big 4th qtr. last night. I like kids that learn to play inside 1st. It will only help his game once he develops his perimeter skills. Nice prospect to watch grow. Huge wins for Folsom, although they may have just pushed themselves into the Open.
Forbes has a chance to be pretty good. His sister is already very good. Could see this game again in the section finals.
Interesting thing for Sheldon this year is how those four guards mesh. They have slight differences, but do a lot of the same things. If they find the right mix and match with the group to go with Manning, I think they are the best team in Sacramento.

Yeah I think its really a tossup this year with Folsom and Sheldon. Sac High isn't exactly chop liver either. But if I'm a betting man I'm going with Folsom. Best coach in the area and best PG in norcal. Another unsung hero on that team is 6'3 guard Alec Andrews. He's been starting since soph year on varsity and does a lot of things well.
Agree that is the top 3 in some order. Folsom is the safest bet. Sacramento has the highest ceiling because of Young inside.
Streak- Agree. But I have been watching hoops for a long, long time and with exception of the Chase Tapley teams Sac High always seems to disappoint. Don't get me wrong they are successful on paper but with the talent they get year in and out…. I'm a skeptic.
I have seen folsom and sheldon play twice, i watched sac vs de la salle scrimmage and the foundation game against captital christian. Am i missing something??? Sac's first 8-9 guys are loaded. Their guard play is at a very high level and they are dominant. For sac bee to have them ranked 4th is an embarrassment. They play high intensity disciplined basketball and their commitment to the defensive end is better than anyone i have seen this year besides Moreau vs SC. Terrell has really stepped up his game, and their role players can start for anyone. But my question is who is going to guard Young????? I will tell you who, nobody. He is much improved, shooting deep 3's coast to coast for dunks etc. In sacramento Sac hi is the top team, and it will take a huge effort to beat them.
Theres something about those Sheldon teams. I love watching them. Even the JV team has that swag and confidence and plays harder as a team than anyone. The game against Folsom was real special and every player from each team could benefit from studying that film. Sac is the most dangerous because they really have two teams. The 2nd unit would be a top 5 team by itself. Folsom to me has players that stay within their roles the most. When everyone plays their part we look unstoppable. We were up by 13 against Sheldon and were in a zone defensively. When players try to do more than their roles then you can see the holes but to be honest Sac/Folsom/Sheldon are almost even with Sac having the highest ceiling. Woodcreek has the best player in the area but as a team nowhere near the other 3. I guess we'll see in SFL league play tho.
how the hell a Sac vs Folsom game didn't get scheduled this season; Where ever those teams are scheduled to play in January for MLKjr day, they should cancel and do a event in Sac, have Capital vs Sheldon and Folsom vs Sac High with two or three preliminary games. Don't talk about it be about and make it happen, do it for the fans. How Ford go four years of high school and not face Sac High. that makes no sense to me.

FJ... Half of that will come true. Sheldon is playing Capital in January as the nightcap for the Adidas challenge. I believe 8 or 9 games at Sheldon .

Let's be clear. A sac high vs sheldon game didnt own out? Sac high extended a formal invitation to set up a game late summer and were told they might be able to make it happen. Never heard back beyond that. Sac isn't scared of anyone. Just patiently waiting
You sound a little sensitive. No one said Sac is scared of anyone. First of all most programs already have a schedule by late summer. . I said Sheldon tried but it didn't pan out. Remember Sheldon only gets 24 games this year. Their league expanded so they now play 14 league games .They are allowwed one tourney which they chose the tarkanian in VEGAS. That leaves 6 contacts. Army Navy at Norcal tipoff, Folsom,Mitty EL Cerrito, Serra challenge in Los Angeles , and Capital Christian in Sheldon Adidas Classic.

Well said DG! I agree with most everything you mentioned in regards to Sac Folsom and Sheldon being pretty much neck to neck.
I smiled though DG when you mentioned how kids playing their roles is so important to the success of the team! That's why having a good coach is so important, Especially when there is no clear cut leader on the court who will take charge and will not be afraid to be a vocal leader.
