SHP: #2 Ranked Team by Merc News, 14 game winning streak, reigning Open Division Champs, crack coaching staff, star QB and REC's, scored 47 points in last weeks game against Leland, game being played at SHP home field. How can the Crusaders even keep this game competitive? David vs Goliath.

I said it before, I think Riordan wins this game in a close one. They return all of their offensive lineman, qb, and alot of skill players including their shifty running back Sanders. SHP also has alot of talent at the WR, RB, and their QB is very accurate. Coaching edge also goes to SHP. If Riordans coaches find a way to get the ball to the playmakers they win this game. SHP edged them last year without Burr-Kirven 14-7, and I think the Crusaders are much better this year and SHP will be solid, but not like last years Open championship team. Crusaders 21 SHP 14

I'd like to remind folks of the effects of long term drug usage...

Can't wait to see this one. Hoping Riordan is all they are hyped up to be.
Who has hyped them up? Saying they will probably be better than last year is not hype. They haven't played a game and aren't ranked on any list.

Mr. Fubo: Please see my latest remarks on Mercury News WCAL football rankings. I may be partly to blame for a small portion of any supposed hype of the Riordan Crusader's. I do though agree with you, anyone following my pre-season analysis of Riordan would see my remarks state they are simply a better team than last season and may move up a notch in the WCAL. Nothing wrong in looking forward to some possible improvement.

Over the past 3 years, I've been entertained by all the PRE-preseason banter (aka hype) on the jackrabbits...namely by the jackrabbit boosters/shills on this board.

...I take even greater pleasure in seeing these jackrabbit boosters meet their destiny as their season progresses.

...like Icarus...Choo...Choo!

That's not hype thats's just an opinion.

I thought that was Irish Cheers after last years Riordan shCathedral game.

Will be an interesting game with Riordan running the read option no huddle spread this season. Forecasted temperature for tomorrow's 3pm game in Atherton is 90+ degrees. This will also test both team's conditioning and depth. SHP has 40 players listed on its roster (Maxpreps) and the Crusaders have 45 players. You'd think SHP would spring for some temporary lights to hold a night game. Lol!

Unless I overlooked a post or two, I've never seen Irish make any pregame or season predictions or over-hype any aspect of his team's potential...

On top of...ever seeing him or other Irish fans desperately search and plead their case for a new head coach or AD...

Let's not forget touting some thumpers and a revolutionary, new coaching tool...the choo choo whistle.

Shall I continue?

Sounds like Ted had a high school girlfriend stolen away from him by a Riordan guy. However, Ted may be harsh, but he does have a point about the hype.

You cannot overstate how TERRIBLE John Lee and the other coaches and trainers were in years past compared to the rest of the league (minus SHC). They were the main reason for Riordan going 4-16 over the past two seasons with their only wins being against AAA opponents and SHC during that time. Based on that alone I am going to predict a Riordan victory. I know it may sound crazy but it is hard to quantify the upgrade in the coaching staff but we shall find out soon. The previous coaches were that awful (might be the worst I've ever seen at a private school) and Riordan has too much talent.

No clue who wins but it will be a close game,Riordan has enough horses to
Stay with SHP

If they run #20 all game like they did at the end of the game last year I think Rioridan can pull it off but if they don't put him in on offense they won't stand a chance. Final prediction: SHP 35 Riordan 21

Riordan TD! Jason Greene 7 yard rush up middle. 2 pt good. 8-0 Riordan. 10:53 left in half

14-0 . Luavasa scores on read option. 14-0 3:29 left in half

Verba-Hamilton 94 TD KO return. 21-7 20 seconds left in half

SHP was listed amongst the top 3 picks (most value) for 17 of the pickers in this week's Pick'em... including mine at #1. :(

I'm not surprised at this but they must come home with a win to be taken seriously

Good points - 1 game does not make a season and the WCAL is a meat grinder, with the city schools as the poor step children. We will have to see more before jumping on the train (choo choo reference). Improved yes, how much is a question.

Agreed - play calling and imagination were missing. New head coach who was DC last year, Line Coach the same as last year, DC has been with them since freshman year, so maybe it was the direction and play calling. 1 game doesn't make a season and let's all be honest pre season isn't WCAL, so let's give the new boys a little room and maybe they can do something with that talent.

I think you may be mistaken with your coach info.

New Head Coach (Fordon last year DC), new OC and QB Coach (Darius Bell), New DC and Strength coach (Danny Curtin), new O-line coach (Ryan Jones), new D-Line Coach (Jason Morris). Pretty much a brand new staff.
