This stage of Norcals are great as many teams have not played each other before. This is true for this Saturday's matchup with host Sierra and Archbishop Riordan.
Frankly, I have never heard of this school, but understand Sierra is a very good team team this year coming in to Saturday night with 29 wins. Can anyone provide some background of this team? How big is their gym? Should fans get there early? Looks like the Crusaders come in as considerable underdogs. Should be a great game!

That offense only managed 40 in regulation time in an OT home win against a much less talented but hard playing Albany team. Expecting them to win on the road against better competition is probably expecting too much. If Stansberry can go for 30 plus then maybe.

SHP was held to 20 points under their average by the Crusader D. Let's hope they can contain Sierra. If the role players limit their turnovers, grab rebounds, play D, hit their shots, make their FTs along with Stansberry having a monster game, then I give them a shot.

A lot of fans did not see Riordan winning against 28-2 Albany and this game does not feel much different reading the posts with Riordan clearly as the underdog and Sierra an overwhelming favorite at 29-2.

If Riordan can think they are playing at home & relax then they will be OK. Their road record is a bit scary though and they'll be a long way from home tonite. On paper it looks like Riordan has more than "just a shot" at winning this game and is fully capable I believe in doing so. It all comes dow to how much they believe in themselves & if every player does their job. Sierra will have a size advantage & the Crusader's must limit their fouls. If good D, good shot selection on O & make their F/T's they may just come away with a win against a 29-2 team who has had a much less grueling schedule.

Re: Sierra 65 Archbishop Riordan 57 Final

Crusaders lose to a very good Sierra team that should give Campo a very good game. The T-wolves simply had too much firepower and withstood several Riordan scoring runs in the first half and late second half. T-wolves were up 15+ in the first half and the Crusaders actually took a brief lead led by a Jason Smith rim-rattling slam and technical on Sierra. In the second half Riordan kept within striking distance, but Sierra's inside-out game with their 6-8 center and perimeter players, and I believe perfect free throw shooting w/o a miss, was too much to overcome. Galindo was out once again and seeing Colton on the bench made you wonder how far this team could have gone this season. Congrats to the team and Coach Buck! They have a nice nucleus returning in Galindo, Stansberry, Smith, Rassam and Norman and should be competitive once again next season. Nice HS hoops atmosphere at the "Den". Fans were gracious and friendly hosts. Good luck to the T-Wolves the rest of the way!

The Crusaders should be proud of a successful season. Coach Buckner always seems to play the whole season with one hand tied behind his back, injuries or Section (CCS) eligibility(transfer rules) have hurt Riordan. All in all they played hard and should build on this for next season! Go Crusaders!!
