CalPreps.com is predicting an SFL sweep of The City of Elk Grove. Thoughts?:

Division 1

Monterey Trail (Elk Grove, CA)
vs Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, CA)
at Sacramento CC (Sacramento, CA)
Saturday, November 30th, 8:00pm
[projection: Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, CA) 31-22]

Division 2

Elk Grove (CA)
vs Whitney (Rocklin, CA)
at Sacramento CC (Sacramento, CA)
Friday, November 29th, 7:00pm
[projection: Whitney (Rocklin, CA) 31-28]

Agree that both OR and Whitney win. And OR is left watching the bowl game the following week.

I think both will be excellent games. I plan on being at Hughes.

I have sincere questions regarding D1 NorCal section finals and D1 NorCal championship games:
1. With regards to the sections with D1 finalists, there are the 4 sections SJS, NCS, CCS, and CS, correct?
2. Are there two D1 championship games, D1AA and D1A? If so, wouldn’t the winner of each D1 section final (4 total) be eligible to compete in either D1AA or D1A against each other?
3. How is the Open NorCal team picked? With 1 Open team, and 2 D1AA teams to compete, and 2 D1A teams to compete, that equals 5 teams needed to fill these spots, yet there are only 4 D1 section winners to pick from.

I’m not sure if anyone really knows how this process works, however I feel there are several individuals that have more knowledge regarding this topic than I do, so I’m asking.

Mack in the Oakland Section factors into the top few regional bowl games as well. I think the committee can move the teams around as they see fit. If a D2 team like Campolindo in NCS hypothetically were to be considered the strongest team in NorCal, it’s my understanding they could be put into the Open or D1-AA game.

Wouldn’t OR be guaranteed a regional bowl game if they win SJS D1?

Per CIFSJS.org:

2019 Playoff Information
The SJS football postseason determines the playoff teams through the playoff plan. After those teams are selected, they are split into divisions by enrollment and seeded by committee. All Section champions will play in a Northern California Regional Championship.

Exactly. Which is why I was wondering how OR might be watching a bowl game if they were to beat MT. Winner moves on.

You might be right. I was thinking a 11-2 Serra or VC team would get the nod. But I guess it would be hard to send a d1 section champ home.

I figured ole larry33 was predicting a green machine upset, with OR strength of schedule putting them in the Open, thus watching the regionals from the couch.
