Spartans prepare for St. John Bosco

I hope this is a very competitive game!

Is DLS star WR Grant Daley healthy for this one? He’s been out for most of the postseason. They’ll need to have the passing game clicking, in addition to a lot of other things.

I would not be shocked at all if the Spartans beat SJB. First reason being its DLS and they are always going to be well coached and conditioned. Second reason being SJB just played their hearts out to beat Mater Dei and its hard to bring that energy and focus two weeks in a row. SJB also might not take DLS too serious, especially after beating Mater Dei. That said SJB has a ton of talent and should win this game, but I just can never count the Spartans out.

You can bookmark this excuse from SoCal fans should DLS pull of the upset. It’s like death, taxes and rain!

What makes this year any different?

That it’s a different game and different season? ;)

Not saying DLS will win or even play close. But if these things were ever a 100% certainty, they wouldn’t bother playing the games.

You just never know.

True. It will have to be SJB mindset that dictates this one like previous poster said.

I’m pulling for the north!

I'm done watching. I thought DLS had a close to 0 chance of winning. Then I saw them make a field goal and the score is still 7-0. It isn't going to change the outcome of the game, but my goodness that is wrong. I'll read the headline tomorrow and call it good.

Sparta losing its last game before Ladouceur retires from teaching, and only one year removed from his coaching retirement has to sting: A legacy being replicated in NorCal, unfortunately which the MDs/SJBs of the world happily, similarly obsess. Even if he moves from south Contra Costa to somewhere like Sacto- the “Bay Area Senior Living” destination- one would predict he’ll keep his pulse on the program.

Perhaps his greatest satisfaction might be his own going into public service. Irony.

Not really sure whether the FG attempt was good or not as the camera angles aren't the best to make that determination for us watching on T.V. By rule- in order for a kick to be good- the ENTIRE ball when going over the crossbar must be ENTIRELY within the uprights extended. Obviously the official standing under the particular upright would have the best view- one of the those tough judgement calls.

Thanks for stating the rule. I was wondering what it was, but figured that’s what it had to be as a lower kick looked like it may have hit the upright. The announcers made no attempt to explain it, which I’m sure added to the frustration. Tough break.

That’s a 50/50 call with no way to know if it totally cleared the uprights extended or if part of the ball was over them. Kind of like a called 3rd on the outside corner. Too close to take. Better to keep the ball between the uprights to avoid leaving the call up to chance.

Agreed O22. DVRd and it split the upright at best, or outside at worst. At this level, at this juncture, better be p e r f e c t...Or start again in January.
