SRV comes back against Cal High

Cal High was 12-2 after winning its WCJ bracket and avenging one of its losses (Castro Valley) in the finals.

SRV outscored them 18-9 in Q4 for a 52-49 win.

SRV led early on, but seemed to run out of gas at the end of the third quarter. Got their second wind in the fourth, aided by Cal's Gabby Edmonds fouling out.

Edmonds (senior bound for UC Merced next year) played well for Cal. Sophomore Paige Gerhart and senior Lexi Romero stood out for SRV.

It looks like the two teams I thought would challenge Carondelet this season have both improved. I'm sure that was a good game. Congratulations to San Ramon. And congratulations to Lexi Romero who I also noticed won the MVP in her team's Newark Optimist Club Holiday Classic. She also made it onto my "Flying under the radar list".

Lexi Romero was the MVP of the Newark Optimist Club Holiday Classic played at Newark Memorial High School on December 28-30.
