My sister went to St Mary’s and trust me they got money. But it seems will always accept getting bounced. And will most likely never get one the hump.
Considering the fact that they get so many Aussies and European players, which can't be cheap to do, yeah, they got money.
There isn’t a school anywhere that gets more out of less every year than st Mary’s. They aren’t ever going to be a sweet 16 type program but getting to the tourney almost every year and usually winning a game in an unbelievable accomplishment. Bennett is one of the best few coaches in America.
And they lost to a #1 seed and a #2 seed. Hardly games they were expected to win.

Seriously you think the high profile mostly urban kids that go to PP will be interested in sleepy, sedate Moraga where there's ****-all to do....... I am not surprised in the least bit. I might expect Cal to try to make a dent but little ole St Marys! Similar to what they say about recruiting athletes into Pullman (Washington State) - fly 'em in and out at night so they don't notice the town / surroundings....
The kids he described don't want to hang in Oakland, wc or concord. They want a college town. Or city life that's entertaining.

Spot on as well! There is talent in the 925, the 510, the 415, and so on, all driving distannce form that beautiful campus, from but for some reason it is only international players! And oh by the way they host a summer league tourney every year but they never get a single kid to commit?! Why does Randy never try and get ahead with those kids, could be such a pipeline, but for some reason he prefers the Aussie pipeline. I will never understand, and the excuse we can't get the good players, can't or don't want to, there is a huge difference. I agree with ANKL that Bennett is comfortable, but he needs to stop pretending the program is better than what it is then, he;s been doing the same thing forever and the results stay the same, maybe beat gonzaga, maybe win a tourney game, but for the life of me I do not understnad why he can not recurit locally, just try it for one year, he is clealry not going anywhere. But if all they want is to stay out of toruble and graduate, that is great but in todays NIL world that just is not going to get it done anymore, it just isn't kids want to get paid and also play in a fun system, Bennett wins a ton of games but nothing special imo.
Which if he enjoys the less pressure that is fine and a great life living in moraga and coach basketball for a living, but people compare this guy to Mark Few, whos now been to 2 final 4s, somehting St. Marys will never sniff, shoot, nationally they thing Randy is a top 10 coach in the nation which for the life of me I do not get.....
With all due respect I fully respect what you just said. But is it even worth putting either in the rankings. Gonzaga has failed many times over and got there. You don’t need the best roster to win in the end. Coaching plays a role. So yes maybe some of us are morons, but it’s like watching the same movie year after year after year. Eventually the movie gets old. And don’t get this twisted, it happens on all levels of basketball. Not just college. I never said Randy is a bad coach, but as others have said, just maybe, just maybe he should focus on Bay Area kids and west coast kids in general. Instead of 6 foreigners on this last roster. And yes he has Mikey which proves kids will come.
