D5 is about to get underway with St. Joseph and St. Bernard. Nice cheering section for the Pilots.

St. Joseph leads 14-13 end Q1. Two 3s for Dueberry after his good shooting last week.

St. Joseph leads 23-22 with 315 left in the first half. Duckett has 12 points for St. Joes.

St. Joseph scores the final six points of the half to lead St. Bernard 31-24 at halftime.

Duckett and Smith have combined for 21 points.

St. Joseph leads 38-32 with 450 left in the third. Pilots got their lead up to 10 behind an active zone defense

St. Joseph leads St. Bernard 44-39 end Q3. St. Bernard's top player went out with an ankle toward the end of Q3.

St. Joseph leads 47-44 with 349 left in Q4.

St. Bernard tied it at 44 before a Jade Smith three pointer

Offense hard to come by for both teams

St. Joseph leads 52-48 with 29.7 left and they have the ball. Big basket by freshman Adam Campos to make it a two possession game

St. Joseph wins 55-50 for its 6th state title.

Up 52-50 with 11 second seconds, Jade Smith was fouled but hurt on the play so Lippi chose freshman Kobe Keiner to take the shots. The 5-foot-6 freshman made both shots.

Combining Keiner and Campos, freshmen scored the final five points for the Pilots

Nevada got a steal! Wooten is long and raw but will get a lot better in college offensively. Ayala has no answer. Manteca is gigantic and so far I'm not impressed with the southern team.

Manteca leads 15-10 end Q1. Ayala has to feel good in some ways after that start. John Edgar, their tallest player, has two fouls

Manteca is locked in on both ends. They lead 27-14 with four minutes left in the half

If Manteca doesn't win by double figures I will be shocked. They look better in any facet of the game.

Manteca leads 33-19 at halftime. Wooten leads all scorers with 13 points.

Here is my take on Wooten, who has looked good the past two weekends.

Is he a very good athlete whose skill level will come along or is he is a very good athlete who is getting by on that alone and will struggle against better athletes?

I think the answer is somewhere in the middle. He should be a solid contributor at Nevada especially with his ability to rebound carrying over pretty smoothly.

Wooten has 11 boards as well. 13 and 11 at half. Manteca needs to keep going inside and they should bring home the crown. Huge size difference.

Wooten is getting by more on athleticism today but it's not like he's a project at the next level. He has better skills than I thought. He will be a big contributor at Nevada soon.

The thought coming in was Ayala could combat the size issues with its quickness. In the first half, Manteca looked like the quicker team, which spells trouble for Ayala

Manteca leads 35-22 with 343 left in Q3. Sloppy start to the second half

Manteca leads 41-32 after three quarters. Ayala got the deficit down to 5.

Manteca wins its first state title with a 60-51 win over Ayala. Kenny Wooten finished with a triple-double (points/rebounds/blocks)

Ha ha.. Yeah we are struggling. Congrats to Manteca. Impressive season and well coached squad. Look forward to following a couple of these kids at the next level.

Crespi up 11-8 with 129 left in Q1.

Good up and down flow to the game. Love the way Berkeley competes

Jackets playin tougher than I thought they could against this bunch... Agree, nice speedy flow to this one.

Crespi started to stretch it out up 29-18 with 225 left in the half.

Melton is a pretty smooth player. Nothing flashy, but impacts the game on both ends

Crespi leads 34-23 at halftime. Crespi has four players with at least 5 points led by 11 from Melton. Niles Malone has 11 points for Berkeley
