Stojakovich is headed to...

I was a little surprised. I thought UCLA for sure.
great player with high ceiling. No doubt a future pro. He also will get to play with Silva from Jesuit. Big pickup by cardinal!

He will be the Cardinal's top incoming recruit in 2023. It will be interesting how long they get him. Most draft pundits have him as a 2 and done.

Article from the homepage of the Mothership‘s site.

NICE

BTW - who was it on here that ‘guaranteed’ Stojakovic would be headed to an Academy team before his HS career is up? I’d like to cash in on his ‘guarantee’. 😜

Might be the only McDonald's All American from a NorCal school this season. I think AJ Johnson (Fresno) and Jared McCain (Sacramento) claim NorCal home, but play in southern CA.

He’s got a ‘better than average’ chance IMHO. The class rankings I’ve seen for him put him into heavy consideration, and I think his last name bumps up his chances.

Hes a great story

looking forward to finding a time to watch him play this winter

100%. I plan on catching a bunch of marauder games. They should be much better than last season.

McCain can claim whatever he wants he’s not NorCal or sac. There family and askews went to LA strictly for hoops so own it. McCain would be in the same exact position if he stayed in Sacramento. Talent isn’t hidden nowadays. Who are the all time burger boys from NorCal? Kidd, Gordon, Demarcus Nelson, Jabari bird?????? I’m sure I’m forgetting a few. Ivan rabb?

The big kid from wood creek Hs (brown)who turned into a little bit of a bust until he found home at LTech. His running mate at PG (Robert’s) has had a great college career and was only recruited hard by UCSD.

I forgot about Brown. Drew Gooden from El Cerrito maybe way back when.
Yeah browns game didn’t translate that well to modern style. He still nice 15 and 10 guy for LTech and will most likely play overseas. But at one time he was really up there in terms of best players in country.
Gooden was sensational at EC. One of the more polished 6”9-6”10 kids ive seen to this day.

Those were not MCD. Lillard barely got a scholarship. Just shows you how much the experts now.
Silva is a soph. Give him time, he will be just fine.
and St. John's coach withdrew GP's scholly for an east coast kid, that's why he went to OSU.

Marcus Lee form Deer Valley too.

JOrdan Brown does not play at La Tech. He plays for LA Lafayette. He will likely be there best player this season.

Yes forgot about him.
Great athlete. Super long but wasn’t really a basketball player. Incredible defensive instincts kept him on court but was an offensive liability at times in college. Fun team at deer valley.

is peja on pace to be better than dad?
Um…I assume you mean “Is Andrej on pace to be better than dad (Peja)?”

well let’s see, when Peja was 17 he was already playing in a professional league, so hard to compare what “pace” you are referring too. Peja was playing ALOT more basketball at a younger age than Dre was/is. That said, from all reports , he has a more diverse game than his Pops (I haven’t seen him play recently - and word is he has had a major improvement over the past year)

Time will tell, but he’s definitely trending Up

I’ve heard Rio has added some players this year too - perhaps the Battle for American River Drive will be a good one this season! (Assuming they play one another 🤣😂 )

Lee was a hell of a volleyball player as well!

Lee is still playing! I believe it is the top pro league in Spain, and he is listed as the starting center. I guess he has figured some things out.

Poll of the Night

Which of the above ’cold takes’ aged worse? 🤣😂
neither were completely wrong and 1 couldnt be proven.
maybe PP didnt want him all that bad. and he surely would have been against better comp at a prep school opposed to playing in the local high school and the local tournaments.

Yeah I’m sure they did as well but he is just fine as is. Funny how he blossomed when he wasn’t on the radar. Meaning he got better on his own, with his peeps, and under his control. Sky is limit for him and I personally feel he’s just scratching surface.

His dad certainly know what it takes to get to the next level. Good luck to the young man!

Its pretty evident he made the right choice. Reading this article confirmed it for me that he wouldn't have experienced the same growth had he not stayed home.

they probably did. but it wasnt like they hard up or anything.
"They probably" wanted him? Ya think? Regardless, they weren't ever getting him.

he wasn't "110% coming to Prolific if they wanted him."

He was ALWAYS going to stay at Jesuit.

i didnt say his choice was bad. i said he would def benefit playing versus better players daily. if you ever played hoop at an elite level you would get that.

I played my share of hoops, albeit never ‘elite’ (although the word ‘elite’ is used way to freely by most AAU programs in this day and age).

I never said there weren’t benefits of playing against ‘better player’ daily. Of course their are inherit benefits to playing against better competition. Similarly, there are inherit benefits to being fortunate enough to have individually focused daily 1 on 1 workouts with a highly invested coach who possesses a better resume’ and more first hand experience than any of the coaches from the local prep academies.

The original post I quoted, and took a jab at, was this one:

“Stojakovic should go to Prep school. He won't get the competition at Jesuit that he needs to keep developing. That's just a fact.”

I think it’s pretty safe to say original post was far from accurate as Stojakovic was still able to ‘keep developing‘ despite not going to a prep school. If you go back and read the initial post, you would get that.

but was it? he benefitted from his father, more than jesuit. you are making my argument. the comp at prolific is far superior than at jesuit. either way pp is an avenue that many need as we all arent born with the access a son of a former nba player is. hell most the kids dont even know their dad when i grew up

Yes it WAS.

The kid WAS able to “keep developing” despite NOT attending a prep school, which the original poster said was “needed”.

You seem pretty intent on defending prep schools and PP, despite the fact I never said anything negative about them that required defending. Seems an obvious sore spot for you. You say I am “making your argument”, yet you don’t even understand no one is disagreeing with you. The basis of the original conversation or disagreement (which occured a few months ago on a different chain) was that Stojakovic was different and unique, and as such he didn’t NEED nor want to go the prep school route. Some posters disagreed, saying PP and prep schools were the ONLY way to go if he wanted to keep improving. Which seems pretty obvious he was able to do fine without them. Others stated that PP could get him if they wanted him - which was, and still is, 100% false. (And laughable for anyone who knows the kid and his dad - it wasn’t gonna happen).

My point here, which for some reason you continue to not grasp, has ZERO to do with PP (or any prep school) and everything to do with the unique scenario surrounding Dre. The kid was able to improve and develop quite nicely, without going the prep school route. Not that PP and other prep schools can’t bring certain positives to some kids that aren’t offered thru a traditional school.
