Here is a quick preview of the TCAL-STONE division for the upcoming season and predictions

Albany- 5-6 (2-4) last year, lost in first round of the playoffs. The Cougars must replace All League WR Malik Kyoute and TE Uthman Sabir, and defensively must replace LB Kio Don Pedro. They also took a hit when the returning RB transfered. To fill the void they have i believe 17 returners but i hear they will feature a new coach. There jv team was 0-10 but were 8-1 the year before. On the offense of side they return seniors QB Riley Lee and C Quinton Shelton. Defensively they return 2 all leaguers in seniors LB Cory Sterner and FS Emet Wofford. They also have speedster WR/CB Tim Bernal and two other solid LB'S in Wynter Hunterberg and Jonathan Shan who is also a seniors. Shan is back after taking a year off last year. There backfield will feature senior FB Nick Wood and Wofford would probably be the featured back. Albany is senior heavy and will have very few underclassman on thr roster. One area of concern can be there offensive line with Shelton as the only returning starter.

De Anza- 7-4 (3-3) last year, lost in 1st round of the playoffs. The Dons must replace QB Joseph Sedillo and ATH Jalen Placide. They also have to replace alot on there offensive and defensive lines. There jv team was 1-9 last year with there only win coming against Albany.De Anza will also feature a new coach.De Anza is very top heavy and return arguably two of the top five players in the league in RB/FS Devon King and LB/TE Rico Tolfree both made the All league team last year and are both seniors. In the trenches they are led by 3 year varsity player senior Ivan Alataua. Joining King in the backfield will be senior Lawrence Calhoun Jr who is a load to bring down. Defensively they also have OLB Teddy Bing and CB Kyree Hall who are juniors. Senior Richard Kirbyson is slated to take over at QB for the Dons. De Anza will be as talented as they come in this league. One area of concern for the dons has to be depth.

Hercules- 6-5 (1-4) last year and lost in the 1st round of the playoffs. Hercules drops down from the Rock Division replacing John Swett. The titans will look to replace RB Ernest Jackson who carried the load offensively last year. The jv team went 2-7-1 last year. Hercules has alot of returners led by seniors ATH Dieontae Malan and WR/LB Ray Corbin. Junior WR Emany Johnson and LB Arthur Corbin will also be a force to be reckon with. In the trenches the Titans return junior Deshawn Hampton and senior Roberto Martinez. Senior Jeremiah Nash will led the secondary. Newcomer Thomas Mahlay may also see some action. Would be 3 year starting QB Tomas Wright transferred to Reno so last year JV QB Felix Reyes and Milan will battle it out for that position. All in all Hercules is well coached and have the talent to compete against anyone in this league. One area of concern will be the QB position.

Kennedy- 3-7 (2-4) last year. Kennedy will also be breaking in a new coaching staff but won't be as far behind because there jv staff has taken over. Kennedy will have to replace the explosiveness of ATH Kyree Jackson and OL Ernesto Posada two 1st team all league players last year. There Jv's were 10-0 and outscored opponents 386-2. Yes its true there defense didn't allow a single touchdown all year. Kennedy returns a total of 5 all leaguers led by DE/TE Ryan Robinson and WR/S Trevante Daniels who are seniors and OL/DL Manny Aguero and Christian Qualls and ATH Darrion Ellison who are juniors. Junior QB Micah Barnes who was the Jv QB last year will take over at QB for the Eagles. Also in the trenches the Eagles will be led by senior Devon Thomas and Junior Ronnie Foote. Defensively Larry Washington Jr and Damarcus Bernstine will start in the secondary both whom are juniors. Soph Tyrik Daniels will split time at RB and LB for the Eagles. Also look out for senior WR Akeli Nelson i here he has had a huge summer. The Eagles will be talented and well coached. The question is can this guys adjust to the varsity level quickly.

Richmond- 1-9 (0-6) last year. There Jv team finished respectable going 5-5. The oilers have to replace there two best lineman from last year Menfil Gomez and Edgar Mora. The Oilers do return two honorable mention all leaguers in Junior Kenneth Silva and Senior Luis Lopez. Silva has been playing varsity since a freshman and will likely take over at QB for the Oilers. Lopez and fellow seniors Manuel Valladares and Joshua Ajche will help anchor the line. Seniors RB Jefferson Quiom and WR/FS Eli Vallare also returns as two way starters for the Oilers. Senior Carlos Pena will also help in the secondary. One strength for the Oilers will be Head Coach Andy Odisio who is in his 5th year with the program and 2nd as the varsity head coach.

Predictions
1.De Anza
2.Hercules
3.Kennedy
4.Albany
5.Richmond

Honestly 1-3 can go in either order De Anza and Kennedy are very similar in Talent. Hercules has the most tenured coach in this league so you can't count them out. Albany will be tough to beat but the offensive line is a huge question mark. If Kennedy team come togethet quickly they can win league. If De Anza or Hercules figures out the QB situation they will win.

Would be nice to see Kennedy win. Believe it or not that was a onetime Bay Area power program back in the late 70's early 80's
