The game of the week between St. Mary's of Stockton and Serra, turned out to be a 99 point scoring show down....As The Ram's out scored Serra 63-35...any team that can give up 35 points and still win, say a lot for them, but any team that can score 35 and loose means the defense needs a little work.
But over at Antioch, another free-for -all took place, as the Panthers rolled over Lincoln of Stockton 67-38....Antioch score 38 points in the first quarter with a super red hot offense that Lincoln could not recover from...But this kind of tells a story as Antioch's defense gives up 38...The Panthers face Milipitas next and although they stopped them 47-22 last season, it may not be that easy this time..., it also says lot of work has to be done on defense...especially when they face DLS.
Again, Marin catholic was no match for Central Catholic as the combination of Juard Rice, Montell Bland and QB Cole Petlansky were just too much for MC as CC bagged the game 42-10.
Piedmont made a statement with a convincing win over Justin-Sienna which was thought to be a close game, but it was a run-a-way win for Piedmont at 48-14.
DON'T BELIEVE EVERY THING YOU HEAR OR READ....Word was out that Turlock was going to field one of the best teams in a while. But Freedom's Ronnie Rivers,Dominic Mather and QB Jonathan Pierce showed that this wasn't the case as the Falcons trampled the Bulldogs 43-6..But there is more,, the same goes for Ygnacio Valley where the talk was the Warriors were much improved, but St. Patrick-St.Vincent jumped all over YG49-12.
Alhambra failed big time against a revised Acalane Don team that went to work and routed the Bulldogs 41-7...I chose Alhambra to win, but that was a benefit of a doubt, but the writing was on the wall when Wood shut them out 28-0 on the Sat. scrimmage...
Cardinal Newmen's road trip to Fortuna was not the close battle of last season when CN stopped Fortuna 43-42, this time it was the Brookshire and team win over Fortuna 45-12, so grad hit fortuna pretty hard...
Reed of Sparks Nevada did not go well on their visit to CVC as they went down 35-21, the Eagles were just too big for them...And the same goes for Campolindo as the size made a big difference, I thought that the Cougars had enough guns to win it....But last year the Cougars lost to a very big Napa team 21-14, so if you are big and fast, look out. Concord gave Wood a game in a 27-26 edge loss, which could have gone either way....Concord did not do well at the Pittsburg Jamboree at times, but they never gave up and it almost paid off Friday night.
College Park went down 35-24 against Pinole Valley, but they were in the game up to the first half, but could not get rolling in the second half...The Falcon's played PV tough...
In real close games, Dougherty Valley got by Las Lomas 12-7, Hercules stopped Mt.Diablo 16-12 and Miramonte edged Vanden 27-23.
Out of the 24 games picked, four did not pay off.
