Yeah, it’s c-c-c-cold in here!

Other than the subzero temperature, this gym comes straight outta Hoosiers...

Anyway, I’m here to see De Anza try to skate to victory... er, out-hoop the host Salesian.

Right now, it’s halftime of the JV game, which was tied at 12 late in the first quarter... But then Salesian poured it on... Two quick 3’s to end the quarter opened the floodgates, and by the time the buzzer mercifully sounded, De Anza found itself down by a 34-14 count.

De Anza’s varsity comes in here with a gaudy 13-2 record, but little experience vs the types of teams 12-3 Salesian has been facing... It’s a longshot for the Dons, but mayyyyybeeeee if things fall jusssssst right....

Interestingly, De Anza pulled back within 6 at 39-33, but Salesian went on a nearly identical 20-2 tear before coasting in to win by 19.

Anyway... Varsity in 15!

LOL...

Salesian enters to the strains of the “2001 Space Odyssey” theme.... Now *THAT* is some Pride for ya!!

Salesian causing havoc with their pressure as usual, but not getting muchout of it the way of points... 5-2 Salesian, 4:30 left in 1st.

8-2 now, after #2 sinks a 3, something it looks like he could do all day...`

Btw, Salesian #2 is Jaden Lazo, and he just sank another bomb... 11-2.

Lazo caught a whole lot of iron with an 80-foot heave at the buzzer, but no go... 11-4 after eight minutes.

Offense still not exactly rolling smoothly for the Pride, but the D is just plain stifling. 21-8 Salesian, 4:24 left in the half.

34-16 at the half... Big parts of Salesian’s offense has been Sawyer, with several buckets down low.

A quick run, and it’s suddenly 46-22. Three runouts in a row will do that...

46-26 end of 3... De Anza looks awful good to these eyes, but they can barely even get a shot up against these guys.

Tough to win at Salesian. They might have won some of those close playoff losses in recent years if they weren't on neutral courts

61-42 final. Impressive showing by Salesain, and De Anza didn’t suck in the least!

I think Folsom beat them in Salesian gym. Folsom was the 8 seed and Salesian the 1. Open division NorCals. Couple years ago.

Odowd, Salesian, and St Joes might have the best home court advantages due to the size of their gyms. Odowd might also be the worst gym to watch a game. Almost as bad as the old El Cerrito gym
The old EC gym and ODowd look like the identical layout, minus the little Gaucho on a horse at EC
