1) Campo --> Still No 1 even though they lost a tough game to OCFFA (TX)
2) De La Salle --> Took Mater Dei to the final whistle. Will Compete with Dougherty Valley for EBL with Granada and SRV being sleepers.
3) Miramonte --> Beat King (Los Angeles), Serra, and Folsom all in one week. Will challenge Campo in the Diablo-Foothill League.
4) St Patrick St. Vincent ---> Impressive team at 10-1. Team isn't getting the respect it deserves.
5) St Ignatius --> Lost to Branson in Championship of the Chris Huber Classic. Still a top 5 team IMO.
6) Branson --> Huge win over SI..getting revenge for a previous loss.
7) Dougherty Valley --> 12-0 is nothing to sneeze at. League play will tell us a lot about this team.
8) Riordan --> Did solid in Texas Tournament going 2-1.....shot clock rule in TX is messed up!
9) Saint Francis --> Only losses to SHP (10) and Campo (1).
10) Sacred Heart Prep -->Went 2-1 against teams from Ohio and Washington..Heavy Favorites to win the WBL

Considered: Salesian, Oakland Tech, Oakland High, Los Altos, Mitty, San Ramon Valley, Archie Williams, Dublin

I will leave the other areas...Sacramento...etc....to the folks that know those areas! Happy New Year Everyone!

Hard for me to not have Salesian somewhere on that list. Losses to Gorman, Bishop O’Connell, and Dublin. They open with st pats. That will be a good game but I think Salesian prevails. Branson might not even be favored in there own league too. mcal is really strong.

Based on non-league SOS it’s
Mitty
Riordan
St. Francis
Bellarmine
SI,
Serra
SHC
Valley Christian

I believe that game is postponed as well.

I was thinking the same thing. Saw SF & Riordan both get beat handily by Campo, Surely there are better teams in the WCAL this year.
Bellarmine lost to Oak Ridge. SF-Campo game was over in the first quarter as the Lancers were down 20. Riordan’s 3 losses were to current top 10 teams in NorCal in Campo, SHP and Grant. Campo Game was tied at halftime at Gridley . SHP lead was down to 3 late in the 4th before the Gators pulled away. They beat #2 Salesian and #10 Sac at that time. Its other loss was by 3 to Archbishop Moeller #7 in state of Ohio when the coach went to a 4 corners with no shot clock once Riordan applied its trap and man D after tying the game in the 4th. SI’s schedule was not that strong only playing Miramonte and Branson twice. Serra played well against DLS and lost to Miramonte after SI blew them out. WCAL is up for grabs this year. DFL and WCAL appear to be pretty strong this year.

De La Salle lost to Cal High 63-49 tonight, so they’ll be dropping from the #2 spot.

I heard they were missing 2 players (don’t know who), but I think just about every team is down a couple of players about now.

I think we all need to take a step back and “read the room” for a second. Let’s give these teams, players, coaches, and referees a little grace as they try to navigate doing their jobs during a pandemic for our viewing pleasure. I’m not sure if it’s more comical or sad that we’re talking about rankings during this time. It’s more of a victory that kids are on the floor playing (even if it’s a partial team), coaches are trying to figure this out on the fly, and referees are willing to get out there

It is a thread about the top 10. Not trying to step out of bounds or anything. There are plenty about Covid where those sentiments are expressed.

I believe Bellarmine was missing players when they lost to VC this week, and of course Campo has been without 2 starters for a couple of weeks now, including their only loss.

As of 1/6/22:

Ill introduce this by saying Covid is happening to almost every team in some sort of way or fashion. At least in my rankings I will not consider whether a kid was missing or not. A win is a win, and a loss is a loss.....that being said here it goes:

1) Campo --> A week from today they are supposed to resume their season against a very formidable Clayton Valley Charter team
2) St Patrick St. Vincent ---> Impressive team at 10-1. Will play a 5-1 St Marys Squad next week
3) St Ignatius --> Play Serra tonight at 7:30 then Riordan on Saturday....huge two games that will tell us a lot about this tough Wildcats squad.
4) Miramonte --> Back after 2 week hiatus....Will play Marshall on Saturday
5) De La Salle --> Loss to Cal High hurts...but isn't back breaking. Missing two starters....will most likely be a top 3 team by seasons end.
6) Branson --> Like SI, plays Marin Catholic tonight, as well as Archie Williams on Saturday. Two huge league games...hopefully Covid does not interfere.
7) Dougherty Valley --> 12-0 keeps them ranked, but they play a tough Cal High team and DLS in their next game.
8) Riordan --> Long break....I look at their record and while 6-4 they have played a tough schedule, which includes national games. SI game Saturday.
9) Saint Francis --> Only losses to SHP (10) and Campo (1).
10) Sacred Heart Prep -->Went 2-1 against teams from Ohio and Washington..Heavy Favorites to win the WBL

Considered: Bellarmine, Salesian, Oakland Tech, Oakland High, Los Altos, Mitty, San Ramon Valley, Archie Williams, Dublin, Lincoln (SF)

@ayalar09 how many of these teams have you seen play this season? Mitty, Salesian & Dublin are top 10 easy. This is almost as bad as your Mor Seck to Wiseman comparison. C'mon man

this man may never be able to shake that one. but to be 100 neither mor or james has lived up to the hype. so they are pretty much comparable.
and you right mitty, salesian and dublin better than at least 3 of those teams he ranked.

  1. Campo
  2. Mitty
  3. DLS
  4. SHP- Atherton
  5. Riordan
  6. Dublin
  7. Salesian
  8. Branson
  9. Dougherty Valley
  10. St Ignatius
Rest of NorCal
  1. Modesto Christian
  2. Sheldon
  3. Inderkum
  4. Ponderosa
  5. Grant
  6. Lincoln-Stockton
  7. Oak Ridge
  8. Elk Grove
  9. Folsom
  10. Jesuit

Armchair
Tell me the oak ridge at #7 was a mistake.
they should not be on anybody’s top 10. They’ve played a cupcake schedule beyond belief and when going got tough down south they went 1-3. They will be 3-4th place SFL team.

Put OR #10 this week. Decent SOS. Can certainly change by next week. Who you got in order of finish in the SFL?

After that complete toss up between rocklin, gb, and Do. There will be some really tight games this season. Margin that separates the middles teams is tiny.

Rankings will be tough to figure out because take three results from this week (VC over Bellarmine, Cal over DLS, Serra over SI). All three of the losing teams were down multiple starters. I think you have to rank off results, but wouldn't be surprised to see some "ranking upsets" later in the year.

Then again, Campolindo has missed starters too and kept rolling

And it’s very likely the winning teams were also down players.

It looks like Northgate took down CVC last night 68-58 in Diablo-Foothill league action. There was no box score, so I don’t know if either team had all their starters.

Cooks hit a running 3 at the buzzer - good! Dublin wins 59-56. Great game!
Crazy game. Dublin outscored them 16-8 in 2Q to take 36-29 lead; Granada comes back to win 3Q 21-6. Nick and tuck down down the stretch with defensive stands throughout. Quite a game winning shot!

Granada admins did a good job of keeping student section under control. I got a little worried when the Dublin students rushed the court but no issues
