New Prolific Prep guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker is No. 99 in the new Rivals150 for 2017.

St. Joseph/Team Superstar PG Jade Smith is No. 138.

Thought Alfred Hollins might crack the list too but oh well... Jade Smith definitely looks deserving. Not much else in Norcal 2017, for now at least, guys could always blow up and get to that level.

I don't think Hollins had the exposure like Smith did this summer. When it is done, I think Sebastian Much could be the best 2017 in the region (excluding Prolific players)

Falls isn't a national ranking guy and that is nothing to be ashamed of.

I love this board my ten dollar a month subscription is way better and funnier then picking up an inquirer
From the local grocery store especially when the experts chime in.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker is not listed on the Prolific Prep roster on their website (and this board)... Anyone know if this guy is actually there? Might be down to just 1 Norcal guy in the 2017 rankings...

I really like Sebastian Much streak. Big time range and feel for the game. I walked by him at a game last year and he's an under listed 6"7. Meaning I think the kid could be 6"8-6"9 when its all done because he seemed closer to 6"8. Got a little Ryan Anderson in him.

Abu Kigab - 6'7" 2l8 lbs

U19 Canadian National Team Member (only 17)
Adidas Nations Participant (Team Canada)
#1 2017 Player in Canada
Offers in Big 12, ACC, etc

-Extremely strong
-Ultra Competitive
-Plays 4 positions
-Should be in top 50 Nationally soon.

Hollins is the best player in this class in 2017. Have seen them all and he is getting better and better. Jade Smith is good 2. He is a jump shot away...

Lee you may have missed on this one.

Abu Kigab (Prolific Prep) was just offered by Bill Self from University of Kansas. He had a great week of pulling offers. More to come Im sure.

Not sure kids from out of the country and or area are in the conversation here. I've always thought of Norcalpreps as local kids going to local schools. You have more kids from out of the country than St Mary's College. I don't really even consider the school in the mix here.

Lets have you look at it this way Larry. Kansas comes into the Bay Area to See Josh Jackson. While here, they see Abu Kigab and extremely impressed by the way he carries himself, skill set, and competitive nature. Therefore, Kansas offers Abu after one practice.

Oregon comes into town looking at Devon Daniels (2016). They see Abu and are very impressed and offer him a scholarship, while about to offer some of our other 2018 prospects. I can go on and on with examples of other high majors that offered many of them.

Because of these student athletes (International), there are the majority of every conference coach(s) in attendance in the Bay Area these past weeks (and for other local kids as well). We hear all the time, how certain conferences that do not recruit out West often, can now check out other high school programs they normally would never take a special trip out West to see. This is a win-win for NorCal.

Therefore, I think it is wise to include all Student Athletes in any conversation (or website), nor show prejudice if they are not from "NorCal". That doesn't benefit anyone by showcasing that behavior. That was last years rant....time to move on from that.

Larry. I tend to agree with you on this one. Prep schools really don't speak to the basketball development of the players in the area. The Norcal kids. Or the kids coming up through the basketball system like a Jordan Ford, Oscar Frayer, Aaron Gordon etc, and whoever else who has come up within the basketball area. Kids that have been seen since they were in the 6th grade all the way up.

But you do have to monitor Prolific Prep because it is in the area and it is a unique situation where national level kids can parachute in and have a venue to display there skills. So that is a plus in a sense. But it is kind of with an asterisk. Its an interesting development in the area and one to watch.

Part of the fun of this website has been talking about the history of Northern Calif basketball players over the years and the influence they have had on the hoop scene. Discussing the great teams and comparing to other years. I'm sorry but prolific prep doesn't factor into this for me. Not taking anything away from the skill level here but I highly doubt that anybody is going to talk about ABU KIGAB down the road.

I agree with you larry we come on this board to discuss present and past players and teams that have had a impact on northern california basketball. The stories about jason kidd, gary payton, aaron gordon and
so on were created thru the high school teams and great games against other high school's. I am done
bad mouthing prolific prep they have there place and they are doing what they need to do for there kids.
Me personally i enjoy watching good high school team's with exciting players and school's rich in tradition of sucess. You can call me old school but i wish we still had T O C at the oakland coliseum

I am old school too. I am having a tough time adapting to the new prep school thny

Or maybe i should get used to it?

Same with me G61. The preps serve a purpose and the kids are amazingly talented. Not taking that away. Its just a different brand and more of a biz which at this age is unfortunate IMO. Let them be kids.
