Post your upset/toss up picks for this weekend's Championship games.

Here's mine:

EG over Folsom
CN over MC
Oakdale over CC
SHP over Riordan
Analy over Campo

Tunz... I love it. But I think Central Catholic is going to beat Oakdale. But the other games are such a toss up.

Pete's picks!

CC over Oakdale (Oakdale just doesn't have enough)
Marin Catholic over CN (just a hunch)
Folsom over Elk Grove (Elk Grove no passing attack. Folsom will stack the box)
Riordan over SHP (Dream season continues for the Crusaders...)
Campo over Analy (Rancho hasn't played anyone of like Campo all year. That will hurt them)

God bless.

Larry, Analy and Campo is not a toss up. Campo is going to beat Analy soundly. The same holds true for Central Catholic over Oakdale. From what I was told, Indy took a lot out of Oakdale last week. Aptos all over Hillsdale as well.

I think Rocklin wins, but wouldn't be surprised if Del Oro pulls it out. They always seem to perform well in November/December.
Sorry Streak but you're way off base here. No way Rocklin is going to lose to Del Oro. Bank that... What significant change will happen from Del Oro's 28-3 beat down about two months ago? I want to hear this one.

Word is #3 Udoffia is out. He left the GB for the 4th and did not return. bad ankle of interception return?? but did not return to the game after it. If this is so, the table is tilted heavily in Rocklins favor...

I'm not speaking for Streak but the way I'd answer "What significant change will happen from Del Oro's 28-3 beat down about two months ago? I want to hear this one" is "none".

If I were to guess what Streak is saying is that DO has pulled out wins a number of times where they were clearly underdogs when games really mattered i.e. playoffs win or go home.

Examples:
  • 2009 D2 Semifinal playoff game vs St. Mary's @St. Mary's. DO was a clear underdog in that game and pulled out a 30-29 win.
  • 2009 in the D2 playoff semi-final vs a favored Folsom team lead by Dano Graves DO was behind @hald 7-35 and pulled out that win 43-42.
  • 2013 Regional playoff game against a highly ranked Serra team that came close to beating DLS. DO pulled out that win in Serra's backyard 28-20
  • 2013 D2 section championship game vs a heavily favored Elk Grove team where DO came back from a 19point deficit in the 4th quarter to win 20-19.
There are more examples but the point is or my point is DO has a pattern of bringing the "x factor" to these games to pull out underdog wins. DO has also clearly been whipped in other playoff games where they were underdogs i.e. both D1 SBG games so not implying that they win tonight but that I simply never count them out as underdogs even when they have not shown significant improvement through the playoffs.

Being an objective DO fan, Rocklin is clearly the better team with more talent and are expected to win where DO backed into the playoffs with a 4-6 record. If DO's brings their "x factor" tonight this will be a closer game than most folks think else, yes, could get ugly.

After a big hit Udoffia put on GB player he was clearly hurt and would be surprised if he plays tonight. Trying to defend Rocklins Preece, Gibson and Michelet without Udoffia is going to be extremely difficult.

Folsom over EG-just because Folsom just wins
MC over CN- I'm a homer what can i say I really can see it going either way
CC over oakdale-CC is a machine
Riordan over SHP- too much speed if they can stay out of mental mistakes
Campo over Analy- Campo doesn't mess around in big games

Foothill over over De La Salle in the the biggest upset in CA history. o_O

Hopefully the gift basket from Chiptole was eaten by the DLS players.

Don't discount Analy. They are 24-2 over the last 2 years. They were one of the only teams to play Campo tough last year. It was a 1 td game in the 4th qtr. I wouldn't be surprised.

Here's mine:

EG over Folsom
CN over MC
Oakdale over CC
SHP over Riordan
Analy over Campo
Got to go with the teams that are there most every year. All of the below teams have been in the section finals multiple consecutive years.
Folsom over EG
MC over CN
CC over Oakdale
SHP over Riordan
Campo over Analy

SHP over riordan
HILLSDALE over aptos
HMB over pacific grove

THE PAL PREVAILS !! that's all that really matters. Let it be known the PAL IS FOR REAL!!

GOTF - I'm guessing you already know that both Hillsdale & HMB are favored in those games. It is good to see 3 teams from the PAL in title games though the best team of the PAL SHP is the one that is the only underdog vs Riordan. Hillsdale in Div IV and HMB is Div V are both big accomplishments for both schools, especialy if they win.

Del Oro wins 30-20
Famous last words!!! Sort of like "I am not a crook" or "...but I didn't inhale"

Rough start.
Haha. Ryan, my wish list was a teaser thread starter. But I will be happy to say there's a lot of geniuses up thar in Folsom. congrats to tonight's new section champions, del oro, campo, and bellarmine, and CC

Late in my response, but why I thought Del Oro had a chance was they usually get on a run late in the year (their kids like playing football. Doesn't mean others don't, but I don't see much burnout from them year to year). Also, I saw the first game as Rocklin's rallying point after a bad showing against Oak Ridge. Conversely, that loss was the turning point for DO I think.

All that said, I picked Rocklin and I was wrong too

First of all, great job thinking outside the box on this contest Streak One. I was the one way off base. I thought Rocklin was superior after that first game "can of whoop ass" but that was not the case. I must say this was the first time I banked a game and it didn't happen. But great call Streak One and I wish I could buy you a beer or drink of your choice.

All I can say is your logic was spot on. After thinking about your initial post I thought about it and said Streak One has a great point. But I stuck with my guns because Rocklin seemed to be on a serious mission. Oh well you win some and you lose some. This was a big loss if I was a betting man but thankfully I gave that up a few years back. Never, ever bet on sports my friends.

Looks like old Pete was right on! I just whiffed on the Riordan game, or I would have been perfect.

First of all, like Rmbr26 said HMB and Hillsdale were favored in those games. No need to beat your chest Pal.

SHP over riordan
HILLSDALE over aptos
HMB over pacific grove

Secondly, since the PAL is in the CCS they are not for real. Maybe next year but not this year.

2 out of 3 isn't too bad is it Pal....
And last but not least, I went 3 for 3 Pal and was the first on the board to pick Aptos over Hillsdale.
