Sadly, they're not going to get much at No. 5, but by the end of the draft, the roster for the summer will be pretty much complete.and m the

So far, unfortunately, it does not look good. A lot of players stayed in school for NIL money and so the draft -- which is usually only three or four players deep -- is one (or two) players deep this time.

But next year, the Valkyries will have no bad contracts and the ability to sign the horde of established stars who will become free agents in anticipation of the new CBA.

It is telling to note the lack of elite female basketball players. It's not new. The talent pool is very shallow in the female version of the sport.

I would have stayed in school too! the NIL money will be comparable to if not more than WNBA money and they can get a master's or continue to win and elevate their game.

Little bit of a surprise pick with Juste Jocyte out of Lithuania. Looks to be a long term pick for a big playmaker/shooter

Jocyte was a pro at 14 but the knock is she's the same player at 19. And of course, can she defend at this level?

The Valkyries just aren't very good. But 100+ WNBA players will be free agents at the end of this season, so the plan is to sign a bunch of stars for 2026 and hope some of this year's roster can fill in the gaps.

plus it seems like there is just more energy surrounding the college game ..... not sure if its possible but the wnba game should be played right before the nba games ..... like if the warriors play at 7:30 the wnba should play at 5:00 .... or something of that nature

Barker had one good season and a great playoff game. She could turn out to be really good, or both that game and her season could turn out to be outliers.

It was all guesswork after Bueckers. Some of the players will turn out to be solid WNBA players; most won't. No way to tell. (Jokic was the 21st pick.)

How do they stay for NIL money. You can’t come out early.

Georgia Amoore would have been a great pic I think. She went at 6. Joe was overthinking it. Mostly because she is my daughters favorite player. Small, but can score in bunches, good pop and athleticism. The biggest thing and most important for a new team…super bubbly and outgoing with media and fans.

Valkyries this year maybe the worst team in WNBA history
That would be hard. The Washington Mystics were 3-27 in 1998, and the league was much, much worse back then.

And there are a few other bad teams this year, as some have cleared cap space for a) the horde of free agents next year, and b) the likely 2026 work stoppage over the new CBA.
