Defending state champs Serra and St. Francis appear to have another tough non-league schedule for 2018. Serra (Gardena) and Pitt appear on the Padres schedule and the Lancers host Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) and DLS. SI and Mitty also have some good teams on their slate with the 'Cats taking on Campolindo, Marin Catholic. Mitty hosts Oakdale and M-A. The Bells re-engage with M-A. SHC has a great road game @ Rabobank Stadium vs Palma. VC goes to Pleasant Valley and hosts Clovis West. Riordan has games lined up with a road trip to famous Napa Memorial Stadium against the Indians and hosts San Ramon Valley. I know the schedules are still a work in progress, so would be interested in hearing updates. Enjoy your Summer!

Will Riordan be back at its home field? It looked good at the baseball game.

As to scheduling, the WCAL sports web site has no Sacred Heart JV football games scheduled for the upcoming season. That creates an additional bye week for the rest of the teams.

I wonder if they will go with what we had back in the early 90s, a Soph-Frosh team, instead of a JV and Frosh team. Hard to imagine a sophomore on varsity even getting any actual playing time or reps to improve throughout the season.

There are only freshman and varsity teams on the schedule. Maybe Sacred Heart will switch to just JV and Varsity next year if the league allows it.

I'm sure the league would allow it. As an example, SHC softball only had varsity this season. Maybe this will work out.

For some seasons, Valley Christian only had one frosh boys basketball team and both they and Riordan have had no frosh soccer teams.
