We Want To Welcome You To The 70th Annual Gridley Invitational

It is amazing how well coached Clovis is. The plays they ran in the fourth quarter alone were incredible. Their coach draws up some good shit.
CN is tough. They all can shoot the 3! Ask Branson last year and SI the year before. CN and Riordan have played each other 4 times in 2 1/2 years. Riordan going 4-0.

Is it true Isaak was thrown out of the game on a technical foul ? For saying something after he made a basket and was fouled ? Say it ain’t so Gridley tournament coordinators ? Your talking about one of the biggest games in nor cal from here til semi’s of sectionals.
Point of clarification, Luke fouled out (tech was his 5th) and not thrown out.

They got it. 🏀☔️
Agree 100%. This year's team has "IT"... They defend like a mfer. Sure turnovers happen but everyone hustles back and DEFENDS. Thats the effort and energy that should carry them to state Open final. I honestly after nailbiters vs Clovis North and Salesian dont see Riordan losing a game until the state final.

Salesian missed last 4 free throws. Very unlike them. Open championship will be in SF this year. Good win for Riordan and happy Jasir came thru with the big shot.

Salesian was down 12 at the half, but started the 4th quarter up by 2. Even after the Jasir shot with seconds left, Salesian was down by 1 going to the line for two free throws with 1.2 seconds left to either win outright or at least tie. Missing both was a Heartbreaker.

Great game by both teams. And it’s only December ! Nice to see Rencher with the game winning 3.
Riordan looked very physical versus a skilled Pride team. The press is something that Salesian instills very effectively and got them back in the game mid 3rd quarter. Great win for the Crusaders and Riordan Nation!!

My understanding was that they pick teams based off current roster/returning top players...not what they did in the past.
I could be wrong but I believe Gridley calls the coaches towards the end of school and Branson didn’t know Carr was leaving at that point

No, we knew Branson had players leaving. We simply liked Branson, period.
Some teams we just like, Just because we like them.
It takes a villiage

Here's wishing you great hoops

Those semi's and the final were incredible!

(I was elsewhere, watching my Cougars take the trophy at Liberty, but I was up late each night, watching these game replays)

Riordan's next 4 games are at the Torrey Pines tournament. I imagine they will be placed in the top division and could face some good teams there. After that, yes, they should sweep through the WCAL and CCS.

They are in the national division at Torrey. If you google Torrey Pines 2024 you can see the bracket.

As for Salesian they play a grind session event over in Hawaii.

Will be interesting how each team develops as neither team should have a issue thru league

A comical thing while watching the Riordan games is, you see their team, I think they play 8. Those 8, well, they look like you. And you peer over to their bench, and they got the 3 token pasty guys that are just happy to be on the team LOL.

I’m sure those 3 would have helped beat Urban.😉

Nobody's perfect ;) . Irish thought they'd show up and sleep walk to a win. Credit to Urban. This year's squad I like what Ive seen so far sans the Urban game. Coach Smith plays 10, sometimes 11. Subs frequently. 1-4 can handle, pass and shoot. They really push the ball inviting opponent to get into a track meet with them. We'll see how they respond vs a normally good University team next.

I see Irish in league as high as 3rd and as low as 7th. Realistically they are probably 5th. Ideally if they can land in D3 in NorCals that would be perfect. They are probably D2 though.
