The Bay Area News Group has released its preaseason rankings. The Top 5 teams are De La Salle, Serra, Pittsburg, San Ramon Valley and Menlo-Atherton.

We had Monday Night Football in Placer County with Del Oro beating Lincoln 13-7. This was the final game from Week 0.

Vista del Lago is looking for a game this week with Ponderosa still in COVID quarantine.

Harold Abend of Prep2Prep put together a very detailed preview of the NBL - Oak Division.

Bethel's football program has gone on a COVID pause. This week's game against Fairfield has been cancelled.

Capital Christian Center has sued the CIF-SJS over recent sanctions, which includes a postseason ban.

Sacramento City Unified School District are keeping with the spring policy of only limited family being able to attend games.

The VOL has some good intersectional games against Bay Area teams. Central Catholic hosts St. Francis-Mountain View, East Union hosts Windsor in the debut game for Paul Cronin and Sierra hosts Acalanes. In the section, Oakdale hosts Edison-Stockotn.
 
San Luis Obispo was supposedly looking for a game this week after Alvarez had to cancel due to covid issues.
 
Whoa - just saw a blurb in the Merc that the VC Wilcox game will be played tonight - August 26th instead of Friday August 27th to help out the the shortage of officials.

Note: In an effort to help with the shortage of officials, Valley Christian’s season opener at Wilcox will be played Thursday, Aug. 26, not Friday, Aug. 27, as previously scheduled.
With the focus on COVID and air quality, the referee shortage has been pushed down but its a huge problem. Weston Ranch-Mountain House also moved up to Thursday due to referee issues
 
The Jesuit-Folsom game has been moved to Jesuit HS and the varsity game will be played at 4:30 PM

Scratching my head at the game time

AQI near Jesuit at 430 pm is showing at 170 and the temperature for the game will start at about 100’ and drop to about 95 ‘ by games end.

Had they started the game at 7pm, the estimated AQI would be slightly higher at about 180, but the temperatures would be considerably lower, probably 10-15 degrees.
