Hi Larry, StreakOne has done a great job selecting league rivals.....Sonora should win a State Championship, Hughson will try to repeat. TVL can include 3 teams from d-4 to d-5 to d-6. CN is much better this season that I can recall. Windsor is in trouble. Redwood Adobe is between Newman and Marin Catholic. Windsor and even San Marin are suspect until defeating MC or Newman.
No doubt, even Sierra in D6 has a chance. East Union played Oakdale tougher than expected. CC is D1...so VOL has d1,d2,d3,d5,d6 teams. Somehow, they all can play smashmouth!!
I was at the E U game. Their QB has a rocket arm. Oakdale's krytinite!. They were keying on Burford. Gave the other backs room to run. He still got 160 yards. But he is better on defense.
That SRV vs CAL game will be very interesting. Cal has only beaten San Ramon one time since SRV hit the gas in 2017 Which is crazy to think about. Cal with have a real shot this season with their transfer running back and dual threat QB, This game will come down to whether Cal offensive line can get off the ball and get to San Ramon linebackers. I expect a very competitive game but I don’t think it’s Cal year yet 21-14 SRV
These teams know each other well, and have played each other close for many years. Last year it was 7-0 for SRV in the 4th quarter with Cal driving, but a SRV pick in the red zone ended the threat. Cal has definitely improved this season, but SRV has one of their best teams in years. I’ll be at this one Friday at SRV, and hope the Grizz can hang with the Wolves and make it a good game.
Marin Catholic's defense will have to really show up against San Marin. The offense may struggle with TE Braeden Bachich-Dixon out with a broken collarbone for a while.
Yeah MC offense is going to struggle so bad rest of the year with this offensive line, zero running back production and their one game breaker is now out…….hes also a great defensive player
Sounds like Newman vs Windsor is for the champ based on that key player being down for MC. That sucks.
GUYS...Marin Catholic lost two games to pretty good teams and a close one win, but MC can be very tricky. and they have a bad habit of coming up strong when you don't expect...San Marin is due for a wake call and they coming out shooting that this has to be a win so they may meet CN or Windsor..

But I'm feeling confident of Windsor throwing in the towel early, sitting Anderson to keep him from getting beat up/injured and the company line afterwards will be something to the effect of: "the loss is no big deal"..."cause we didn't want to go to the Open anyways".
Fraudulent soft schedule..arguably the worst schedule in Northern Calif has the Windsor kids and parents thinking they are something special and they are not. Reality is hitting Windsor at 7pm Friday.
If Anderson doesn't play it won't be close. I agree. He's about as talented of a kid you will see around these parts at the HS level. Even with him playing I thought Newman would be too much.

I don't think anything is wrong with him so I'm not where that original post about him sitting out is coming from. He was one of the NorCal players of the week just last week by CalHiSports. This is a huge rivalry game in his senior year, I can't imagine him not playing the entire game.
Anderson is not injured. I predicted the game would get out of hand for Windsor and they'd sit him early so he doesnt get dinged up for the games coming up. You can expect CN to get physical with him like 2 yrs ago where he was pulled at halftime because CN got after him and he got dinged up(in a Windsor last possession win no less).
This has become the current game of the year in the North Bay...there is definitely no love lost between the 2 schools...and that goes for EVERY sport. It's definitely a fun rivalry!

I think you are way off on this one. I think it will be a tight game. I like Windsor. You are talking about Anderson getting dinged up two years ago as a sophomore?? Why? It’s comical. Just like Windsor throttling Newman last year and then taking their foot off the gas (so the score looked closer than the game was) has no baring on the game tomorrow. I like Windsor in a close one, but Newman could pull it off if they have another big game by their dynamic freshman QB Retamoza. That kid is the real deal. He’ll need to grow up fast if Newman is going to pull out the win.
If you think Windsor is the favorite this year you haven't watched very much football. Being a homer is one thing but being totally blind is another. Look at the kids they lost last year and look at the returning kids and additions by Newman. Last year Windsor was fantastic and took it to Newman. Hats off to them. The year before it was a toss up with a last play PI call deciding it . But this year it won't be pretty. The schedule alone that Windsor has played is a joke. Anderson will be the best player on the field but everywhere else Newman is better. I'm not as bullish as @northbaybbguru on final score but I could see a 35-14 type game. We will see soon enough.

Did you not read my post???Actually, of course Newman is the favorite on paper. Everyone has known this senior class is excellent and they have some young studs too. I especially like what their freshman QB is doing, even if he is behind a College (at least JUCO) level line. The kid can play. However, the teams still have to play the game. As you know, the Windsor staff under DJ and formerly under Cronin has pulled off many big wins in the past and has over achieved in games when they were over matched on paper. Although there has been some turnover, I just don’t discount what these coaches have done in the past. We have all seen it first hand. It’s funny to me a lot of the Newman supporters taking shots at Windsor when a lot of the staff has put in more hours at Ed Lloyd field than the current staff. How quickly people forget??? Newman needs to do two things this year that they haven’t done since Cronin and DJ left. They need to beat Windsor, and they need to beat Marin Catholic. On paper, this is the year. We’ll see how it goes. I guarantee the booster and alumni will be watching these two games closely.
Since I’m on the topic of past performers of the CN football program. A big shot out to Max Pond and what he is doing over in Sonoma. Happy for that guy’s success. It will be interesting to see if he ever makes his way back to Newman. I think he is only 34, so plenty of time. If not, he has a good thing going out there.
I remember Max Pond. At Oakdale with Joe Montana at the game. It was the only game my nephew's team lost all year. Oakdale QB missed a couple of practice that week. Didn't start. Down a couple if TD. Came back to lose on missed extra points. Great offensive game. Both teams.
The legend is suspect, drinking to much of that CN kool-aid! Great game, credit to CN they won a hard fought game! Calling everyone "Homer's and predicting a CN blowout just proves how much of an idiot you really are. Good luck to the CN Cardinals the rest of the way but larrylegend should be known as larry the "blow hard" ! You and northbayguru have proven that your pulse on the high school landscape is suspect at best👌
Congratulations to the Cardinals for a Huge 1pt Overtime win @Windsor tonight.
Some thoughts on this game:
1. The Adobe league is going to be tough every week.
2. Newmans lines continue to impress. It would be fun to play LB behind that D-Line.
3. Newmans kicker Gardner played a big time role in tonight’s win, and he’ll have even more confidence the next time he’s in a pressure situation. This could be huge down the stretch.
4. Retamoza continues to show why he earned the starting spot at Qb as a freshman.
5. Bertoli with another huge game. It seems like he has been playing Varsity for Newman for six years. One of the most underrated WR’s in NorCal.
6. As mentioned, Anderson was the best player on the field. Newman did a good job holding him to two TD’s.
7. Neither team has won or lost the league title yet. It’s going to be a 12 round fight. A lot of football left.
8. As talented as Newman is, anyone that thinks they are going to go into their toughest league games and blow out good programs with excellent coaching staffs is a fool and a homer. On paper, Newman should win league, but no one is going to roll over and hand it to them. That’s why we play the games!
