Here are some game notes from Friday's action

Serra (6-0, 3-0) 35, Mitty (4-2, 2-1) 29

With the game tied at 21 at halftime, the Padres got second half touchdown runs from Nate Sanchez and Hassan Mahasin to hold off the Monarchs. It is the closest margin of victory for the Padres this year.

Placer (5-2, 2-0) 24, Rio Linda (5-2, 1-1) 7

The Hillmen scored in every quarter to remain the only undefeated team in the Foothill Valley League. Placer is giving up 19 points per game in its five wins and 38.5 points in its two losses.

Oak Ridge (5-2, 2-2) 38, Del Oro (4-3, 1-2) 15

Oak Ridge scored 10 points in the final 1:50 of the first half en route to a 23 point win. It is the Golden Eagles’ second straight loss with Folsom and Rocklin coming up in the final two weeks of the season.

Las Lomas (7-0, 2-0) 42, Acalanes (5-2, 0-1) 21

The Knights led by 28 points after the third quarter behind three rushing touchdowns from senior Isaiah Newell. Las Lomas compiled an undefeated regular season in 2018.

Middletown (5-2, 4-0) 20 St. Helena (5-2, 2-2) 6

Middletown took a two game lead over St. Helena in the North Central I league in holding the Saints to a season low point total. The Mustangs have won 26 games over the past two plus seasons.

San Leandro (4-2, 2-0) 23 Bishop O’Dowd (1-6, 1-1) 10

The Pirates scored on a defensive touchdown, kick return and a safety in ending the Dragons’ 17 game winning streak. The 10 points allowed is a season low for San Leandro.

Leland (4-2, 3-0) 30, Santa Teresa (3-3, 2-1) 7

Leading 10-7 at halftime, Leland won the second half 20-0 to stay undefeated in the Mount Hamilton Athletic League. Carson Yates had three rushing touchdowns and made a field goal for the Chargers.

Branham (6-0, 3-0) 42, Willow Glen (5-1, 2-1) 27

Branham led 20-15 at halftime en route to staying undefeated. Bruins quarterback Nick Bandanza led a strong passing attack.

Foothill-Palo Cedro (4-2, 1-0) 35, Fortuna (2-5, 0-0) 20

A non-league game saw Foothill score at least 35 points for a third time this season. The Cougars also own a win over fellow Big 4 team Eureka.

Las Lomas is a team that seems to get over looked on these boards and in general. Quietly they have become a solid program over last couple years. Be interesting to see if they can keep it going after graduation of this current group of kids.

I agree. They could go 10-0. Their only real challenge coming in two weeks against Campo. This week they basically have a bye playing Alhambra who with around 6mins left against Miramonte they quit and walked off they field. That team is a mess coaching wise. Their last game is against Northgate. Las Lomas is legit.

I would be shocked if they beat this years Campo team.

I wouldn’t be shocked. But I would definitely give Campo a slight edge. I think it’s a home game for LL.
2017 Campo won both games @ LL (JV 40-10 Varsity 41-21). Just to let you know. And dare I reveal the score from the 2016 year. That said, I do expect a closer game this year. Campo is legit.

It's good to see Las Lomas being mentioned for the strong season they have put together to date. I don't think that using the 2016/ 2017 seasons as a barometer for this year works. It's different players, coaches and mentality at LL as well a very successful 2018 season. After this weekend a comparison of common opponents will be available as LL plays Alhambra and Campo heads to Acalanes. This might give a better perspective to where these teams are at. I hope both teams roll and come into next Friday nights game healthy and fired up ! For my money I am going with the crew from Walnut Creek.

Totally agree in regards to LL having a different coaching staff/as well as a few new players. I'll be taking this change into consideration if this game is on the Pick'em slate next week. That said, I don't believe this weeks outcomes will be valid to judge the head to head between LL & Campo. Style makes fights and the same is true in football. I think this game will come down to Campo's "passing attack" and "run defense". If LL has success against these two things they have a great chance of winning the game. If they don't Campo will win by two scores. This is definitely a Pick'em game for sure.

Totally agree, LL's OL must bring their" A" game to give LL their best chance to win.

Absolutely, Campo's run defense vs LL's OL. The running game must succeed for LL .

I would agree that you can’t judge match ups based on common opponents. Especially when your talking about one of the worst coached teams in the Bay Area (Alhambra). Even if LL does lose. A 9-1 season with your only lost being Campo is pretty respectable IMO. I agree Campo should win but I’m betting it will be a good game.

How did Mitty stay with Serra? Saw Mitty vs MC are they were mediocre at best.

Mitty made some big early plays that aren't likely to be game to game staples. Flea Flicker TD on the first drive and ripping the ball out of a Loville's hands on a punt return for a TD the other way.

Still, they deserve kudos for slowing down the Serra's offensive attack

They really do. The were kind of frayed as a team earlier in the year.. good for them.

After seeing the Campo vs Acalanes game last night. I’m thinking Las Lomas is a better team at this point. My prediction is LL will go undefeated this year.

Campo/Acalanes result surprised me. What was the matchup weakness for Campo?

But if Campo can pull out the game at LL this week, they’ll end up in a 3-way tie with LL, Acalanes & Campo.

Serra had a bad day. Every team will have a tough day, but can they still win. Mitty is good, Serra had a tough day, but still win the game. Every great team has a blip on their schedule where you scratch your head.

Thank you and much respect to you for bringing this up. I had totally forgotten about this prediction and was shocked when I re-read my post on it. Shocked because I was 1 point shy of being 100% correct in regards to the scoring outcome of this game.:) That said, it appears that Campo's run defense and their passing attack got the job done Friday night. Kudos to coach Macy and his Cougars program on a solid win against a very good LL team. Btw, the Cougars QB Harper is a freak'n stud. Just say'n.

Good call Junkie. I thought it would be a better game then it was. I also thought LL would be in at the end with a chance to win. I agree that QB is a stud.
