ST, Maxpreps is a good resource but totally reliant on coaches or official scorer input for stats and win loss info. They do a check to verify the info submitted from both teams correlates to minimize incorrect info but it is only as accurate as the submitted info. You will see some team's stats are not entered and even some scores are not submitted. If there are teams that do not report the playoff projections will be way off. Mazpreps is also national so they don't always have up to date info on the playoff seeding systems that each section employs. Are they generally accurate? It seems they have some incorrect info on who should be in the playoffs at this point. (PVL). League standings. Are they actually tied in with CIF?
Sometimes, they'll refer to a conference game as a non-conference game or put the wrong "Valley Christian" on a teams schedule. At least they do correct their errors.
Its is up to the coaches to provide the player stats and there are some teams in the WCAL that don't submit player info. Now they have a career player stats added that gives you info on players throughout their whole career.I think it's great for following teams/rosters/schedules from various sports. Certainly has it's pluses and minuses. Unfortunately the player stats are usually off as it often doesn't contain stats for every single game. Sad thing is, lots of reporters cite stats from it not researching deeply enough to find that out.
Also, I've seen lots of rogue games included in the schedules that weren't actually played.
Thanks. Your input makes sense. I have found it very interesting and useful. I guess playoff predictions are just that. Predictions. Overall, I enjoy the service.
