Just read a post on another board from a current DeAnza College player that the JC program which has provided opportunites beyond HS for so many baseball players will end after 47 years. DeAnza College apparently announced today that it is ending its baseball program.

The future of JC sports in the coming years will be very interesting to follow and I don't think it will end well.
Unfortunately, that baseball program is possibly the worst in the Bay Area. Never recovered from the scandal a few years ago. There are still some great programs out there but it's more the haves and have nots. Very similar to how HS football has evolved. Very sad IMO.
In an era of fiscal challenges in California, it's very hard to justify any JC athletic program that's a drain on academic/work experience programs. It's a serious question of priorities.
